Question about Carrier 38CKC036 Air Conditioner
Your furnace uses 115 power & there is a transformer in this unit that powers the low voltage controls. i would say that when they replaced the board they missed some issues with the low voltage control wires. which is likely to be what cause the board to go bad. theses low voltage wires are the only thing that can tell the outside unit to come on. the lights dimming tells me that you have a bad capacitor or need a hard start kit. the lights normally only dim if the compressor doesnt start.

HI, THE 351 ON THE MODEL NUMBER SHOWS NOTHING. BUT THE REST IS CORRECT. IF THIS IS A HEAT PUMP, IT WILL HAVE MANY MORE CONTROL WIRES. IF YOU ARE BLOWING THE CONTROL FUSE YOU HAVE A DEAD SHORT. GO TO THE OUTDOOR UNIT AND WRITE DOWN THE COLOR AND AMOUNT OF WIRES COMING OUT OF THE UNIT, AND WHAT COLOR THEY ARE CONNECTED TO. THESE GO BACK TO THE INDOOR UNIT. RED IS ALWAYS YOUR HOT, Y IS FOR COOLING, G IS FOR FAN, AND W IS FOR HEATING. IF YOU HAVE ORANGE, BROWN, PURPLE BLACK AND SO ON COMING FROM THE OUTDOOR UNIT, YOU HAVE A HEAT PUMP. ON A SIMPLE CENTRAL UNIT, ONLY 2 WIRES TO THE OUTDOOR UNIT, RED AND WHITE. RED TO RED, WHITE TO Y ON THE INDOOR UNIT. LOOK AT THE SCHEMATIC ON THE INDOOR AND OUTDOOR UNIT, AND IT WILL SHOW YOU WHAT COLOR GOES WHERE, JUST LOOK AT THE LEGEND FOR THE LOW VOLTAGE CONNECTIONS AND THERMOSTAT, AND FOLLOW IT. YOU WILL NOT NEED ANY MANUAL. MAKE SURE YOUR RED WIRE IS NOT TOUCHING METAL ANYWHERE. KEEP ME POSTED ON THE OUT COME, WE WILL HAVE UP UP AND RUNNING. LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE A HEAT PUMP.
