Hi,

The freezer section has its own fan and the fridge has its own fan motor. The two systems are separate from each other and does not share air. The Fan in the freezer is located behind the ice maker in the freezer section.

I hope this helps.

The service light comes on for various reasons could mean the following: runs too much, doors not closing properly, dirty condenser, temps are not met in a period of time. Also, because to two different systems are you sure it has anything to due with the freezer?

  • Gere knutson Oct 16, 2013

I would guess this has a lot more to due with the fridge section over the freezer. What are the temps in both sections? Do you have ice that has formed on the back wall of the fridge section? Need more information, do you have any fault codes? Let me know please.

there is no ice build up inside of both side freezer temp. is 0 & fridge is 37 . You think it can be seal on the door............thank you

    Hi again,
I need more information on this unit to help you more. I need temps, so you will need a pap rand pen to write down four numbers. ( r, re, f, fe) these are the numbers I need. Open refer door, push cooler button and hold it, while holding it push and release the power on/off button. The display will show you these numbers, use the coolers button to change the display four I need all four numbers. When done, after a couple of minutes, this display will return to normal. Please get back to me and with this I can tell you what has happened to the unit.

    Thanks Gere

some one suggested I could wash with hot water spray bottle .The condenser will be very nicely cleaned .

  • Gere knutson Oct 26, 2013

Hi, sounds like the issue your having is beyond a simple reset or a part change. You will need to have a certified person check this because I suspect you have a sealed system issue and with this issue would cause the service light to come on and not clear. Subzero customer service number is (800) 222-7820. I know this is not what you wanted to hear but without physically looking at this unit, instructing someone beyond this point is or can be risky. Sorry I could not direct you in a happy conclusion.

SOURCE: sub zero 690-temp

The 690 does not have a 'door open' warning bell. Too much stuff in the wrong places can make door not close the last tiny amount. Over many hours the temp will go up. Does the same if freezer door left open. Check this before do major service.

My sub zero 690 has the fridge & freezer light out as well as the screen

Well the most likely cause is 2 bad door switches, though I rarely see the door switch go bad in the freezer. At the top of the door openings you will see 2 switches in the freezer and the fridge. If you pull down the grille and remove the cover over those switches, the light switch will be the one with the white back, and the fan switch will be the one with the black back. I would try changing the switch in the fridge, and maybe start in the freezer by changing at least 1 bulb before blaming the switch. If that 1 new bulb doesn't light, change that switch too.

Sub zero 532. freezer works fine --0 degrees. fridge wont get below 50 degrees. cleaned condenser fins- still no decrease in temp

check the fan that runs between the freezer and the fridge --check fan for ice blockage -debris-or damage / clean or clear blockage --if not running test wiring and connections as well as motor /repair or replace //also check fan damper is not frozen or blocked its flap that opens and closes for air to flow //----ur fridge side is cooled from the the freezer side the cold air is blown in from the freezer if fan or damper is not working correctly than fridge is usually warm and freezer is working properly

Freezer side of 690 does not work (not even cool); refrigerator side works just fine.

Check the fan in the freezer department. It has to run when the door i closed. Sometimes the door switch is bad. This causes the freezer coils to ice up so the cold air does not go through the coil to cool the freezer. Unplug the power cord for 1 hour or two hours. Then plug the cord in and see if the freezer gets cold.

Fridge side not cooling, Freezer side is....

(After trying FixYa and paying for the premium service -- during which error codes were not even discussed) I called a service tech. Turns out it was the fan above the fridge side (which explains why the freezer was still working fine) that was "humming" but not always spinning. A quck swap of the fan and we were back in business.

FYI -- The SubZero tech said it was very uncommon for the fans to go bad.
