Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I would very much like to install Kubuntu Linux on a laptop that already has Windows 7 as it would give me the option to use KolourPaint for editing graphics as I find it much easier to use and as equally powerful as GIMP or PhotoShop, but the last half dozen times I have tried to install it, either I could not get a "stable" Knoppix at all, or it would not allow me to add either KolourPaint or Opera. I specifically want Kubuntu as I have a typing speed of 85+ wpm, so prefer working from a keyboard/with a command line over a "click and point" mouse. Each time I have tried to use WUBI.ext to install Kubuntu, I have gotten Ubuntu which I then was obliged to convert, and again, do could do so as already noted. Can anyone help?

The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

SOURCE: Dell Inspiron 6000 PC Notebook

you have gone into XP's backup and restore and reset your dell to a previous point right ?and if it was this way the first time you booted up it might have been installed wrong and it will need to be manualy serviced unfortunately most companies don't give restore disks any more, if your dell came from a retailer and it is still under 3 month the store should reinstall xp for you and if it isn't the store still might do it, dell might also offer a mail in fix for ya, if that doesn't work you can always go to best buy's geek squad and when you get it fixed make sure to make a backup disk using windows backup and restore, vista has software to use to make a back up disk i dont know about XP
geek squad or dell might haveto do that for you but it could cost you

No money

What is the problem??? if you dont have money to buy Windoze try installing LINUX it's free... and much better!!! (Ubuntu, "Linux Mint my personal favorit", Debian, Kubuntu, etc...) you have the choice of one expencive Windoze or hundreds of free Linux distributions... just download the ISO of your choice than burn it to a CD and try it (without disturbing what ever is on your system) than choose your FLAVOUR than install it... as simple as that!!! if you have some microsoft speciallized software you just have to install VIRTUALBOX and install a copy of Windoze in the VIRTUALBOX to run what ever you need... It's an other world completely but it's worth learning it...

How to reformat Acer laptop with Linux? I want to install windows 7

Gani, When you are installing Windows, you get an option to format the drive (and others too) you want to install it on. Use this option to format the drive(s) while installing Windows. As it is Windows will not install on Linux format unless it formats the drive.

How to install linux fedora 7, already i am using windows 7, now i want to use dual os's , please tell me how to install linux.

WARNING: I will not be responsible for any data loss that occurs. It is recommended to backup your hard disk to external media before commencing any of these operations. 1. Download and burn the Fedora LiveCD. It is recommended that you use the latest version, Fedora 14, instead of 7, but you can use Version 7 anyways. 2. Boot up with the Fedora LiveCD. Select Install. 3. Follow the instructions displayed onscreen. When you reach the partitioning screen, you will need to resize your Windows partition. Resize it to a reasonable size (1024MB =1GB). Leave at least 5GB for Fedora to install. 4. After resizing, select the "Use Free Disk Space" option, and continue installing. 5. Your system will be installed with Fedora and the GRUB bootloader. The GRUB bootloader will allow you to boot into both Windows and Fedora.
I hope this post helps you. I appreciate your vote very much!

Im having trouble booting my northgate stap4dr17c. i think the bios got deleted or somthin??? it wont boot at all. i tried using a different hard drive with windows xp and another with windows 7 ultimate,...

If you get to the Windows repair from Windows 7 then you must have a BIOS intact. BEST way to Diagnose this would be the Magic of Kubuntu Linux Make a Boot disk from a functional machine.
If Kubuntu Linux runs from the CD/DVD drive boot disk for a timely period (Do not install Kubuntu)
Then chances are that you have issues with how your windows is configured. Or a bad hard drive (Viruses (possible)) DownLoad Kubuntu Link page. 32/64bit versions

HP Pavillion ze5600 notebook won't boot up

Try booting, hit F8 for the list, go to safe mode but right after you hit enter to go into safe mode hold the left and right <ctrl> keys. That loads minimal amount of drivers as possible. Do you have you Win XP disk in case a repair is needed? Let me know what happens.
