To protect it from a constant image that will stay on your tv for ever.. Like a logo from a tv station or a bright lettered word that is constant at the end of a dvd that does not shut off. (you will be able to see them when the tv displays a dark scene). the Burn mode moves the image around if it detects that it has been there to long.
Also there is a mode in some that displays random signals to try to recover some of these issues back to the black they were to start with.

Older Tv's burn parts first before fuses breaks for protections. But most of today's new TV's has builts -in protection mode in case any component breaks down for improved safety. It should always switch to standby mode for circuit protection.

Clear a plasma monitor

I presume you have burned in an image from some source? Plasmas are very sensitive to burning in so be careful when hooking up a device that doesn't have pixel shift or dimming. Think about how a DVD player splash screen looks.

You will need some sort of source device that can give you WHITE and BLACK. If you have a VGA input on your plasma (more than likely) hook up a computer to it using the PC input and bring up PowerPoint. Bring up just a blank new presentation. Hit the F5 button or click on the tripod screen button. This will bring up the full display screen, which should be white. If not hit the "W" key on the keyboard. If the burned image shows up as a gray or black image, leave it on for a few minutes and then check it periodically.

f you don't see a burned image when in WHITE mode, hit the "B" key. This will bring up a BLACK screen. Check your screen again. Keep doing ot until the screen is clean. By the way, this will not completely remove all burned in images.

I have a burned in image on my plasma tv is there anyway to fix this?

No,only way to placed the Plasma screen panel, that not an option, because replaced the Plama screen panel will cost the same as a new tv.Sorry have to live with the burn in image or buy a another tv,buy a LCD or a LED tv this time, not as bright and that good with cinamax movies, like a Plasma tvs,but u will not have burn in easy as a Plama tv.

Try turning down the juice. Tungsten is very durable, but is prone to melt also at excessive torch output.

PLASMA SCREEN GOING INTO SLEEP MODE

Is there a moving picture on these sets or are they still? Some sets will shut off at predetermined time if no activity is detected in the video. This is a protection so the screen does not get "burned" so to speak. Just a thought.
