I can only think of a few things that would cause the pressure plate on a clutch to wear out prematurely.
They are:
1. The springs on the pressure plate are worn and and allowing the clutch to constantly slip when it should be fully engaged. This would not only cause the flywheel to wear faster but would also cause it to over heat and warp which would again cause it to wear out faster.
2. Your clutch is not adjusted properly and is either not fully disengaging when you have the clutch pushed in all the way, or is not fully engaging the clutch when you have your foot off of it. This would not only cause the flywheel to wear faster but would also cause it to over heat and warp which would again cause it to wear out faster.
3. Your friction plate (the one between the pressure plate and the flywheel) is warped. And again, this would not only cause the flywheel to wear faster but would also cause it to over heat and warp which would again cause it to wear out faster.
4. You either:
a. keep feathering the clutch a lot while stopped at stops
b. are not pushing the clutch in all the way when you do push it.
c. always high rev the engine and let out the clutch way to slow
d. one of a multitude of other bad habits people do using a clutch

I am assuming you know what you are doing when using a clutch but had to throw #4 in there because of the horrors I have seen with people using a clutch. That being said

Air purifier won't oscillate anymore... How do we fix that?

My is no longer oscillating as well. Took it apart and feel like its the small motor. I am unable to find it online. will call honeywell tomorrow. And probably bring the motor somewhere to ask what optional motor will work in its place. And put it all back together. a new motor should be about $10

I put in a new Living Air XL-15 fan but no go.

Make sure that the pin on the back cover penetrates deeply enough into the unit to activate the power. I too couldn\'t figure out why mine wouldn\'t start until I pressed hard on the bottom right corner of the back cover. When I did the unit started immediately because the pin wasn\'t fully inserted. To solve the problem I held the cover tight with a piece of duct tape and haven\'t had a problem since.

My wife wanted me to take it apart to clean it properly. we have the quadra which all of you know that it's impossible to clean. Well, after cleaning it, I noticed a fuse which is permanently in place...

You can replace the fuse by soldering a new one into place -- it's a standard fuse, just match the amp rating of old to new.

Chances are though, after you do this, it will blow again. So, there's a good chance the unit is kaput.

I have extensive experience with these units to the point of even replacing the high-voltage field wires (the two fine wires which run from top to bottom) with titanium wire. There is no real good way to keep these things running properly -- they're kinda like weed whackers -- inherently problematic.

Red light keeps blinking

I take mine apart when red light comes on and the filters and inside good. It goes off when the unit is screwed back in and turned back on

Can't get the Honeywell F300e EAC back together.

there is a plastic cell key that keeps you from putting the cells in backwards. Simply reverse the cells and they should slide in fine.
I/O is the power switch, I think O is off.

I had the same problem and was about to open the unit up to see if I could adjust the sensitivity of the "clean light" trigger. Yeah yeah I know.. high voltage and all... but I'm an electrical engineer (which means I would know exactly what killed my dumb-a$$ after the fact). While looking I discovered a separate set of contacts under the swivel door. That is to say, unplug the unit, open the door, and remove the metal filter part (the thing you clean) according to the instructions. Look just below the lower part of the door (in between the door and the case) and you'll see a metal post and another metal tab. When the door closes, the two make contact which completes the circuit. In my case, they were covered with dust. I took some long Q-tips and cleaned them off and the unit started working properly again. There may be other things to clean along the circuit, but I believe that this is a step that should be done each time you clean the filter. Good luck.
