Mitsu 65" DLP-picture seems washed out

My TV seems fine when the image is dark or normal. But if there is a bright background or if the image an outside situation with bright sun or sky in background it seems washed out. My lamp was replaced June 08

Thanks, I talked to the store that sold me the TV and the guy insists that this is not the problem. He says he has the same model and has never had this problem. Also, I have a 5 year warranty, and it has proved to be a good buy since my bulb has already burned out once, BUT it does not cover cleaning the mirror. Just figures. I don't like the picture now, but am worried about breaking the warranty if I do it.--Just got a call from the warranty service near me! WOW must be watching this site! They will come out and clean it for $200

HEY! I have a 5 year extended warranty and the problem was covered by it. Turns out it was the light engine(s). Got it fixed and it looks brand new. thanks for all the suggestions.

Most likely cause of your trouble is dust on the small mirror inside you set. Your DLP set has 2 mirrors not including the DLP chip itself which has about 500,000 tiny mirrors. The 2 mirrors reflect the DLP chip image to the screen you view. The first is the main suspect it's about 4inches by 7inches. It's mounted on the bottom center facing backwards. This mirror faces slightly up and somtimes after time dust, smoke, dirt settles on it . The second fills the space of the entire back of the cabinet but it faces down and takes alot longer to get dirty.
The compartment is sealed but dust seems to find it's way in. If you remove the screws that secure the screen assembly from the top , sides and bottom. Make sure to have a friend available the screen assembly is delicate when it's not mounted to the cabinet. You can remove and clean the mirrors. These mirrors are glass and you can use glass cleaned. Don't use glass cleaner on the screen it's plastic. You can clean it if necessary with plastic cleaner only. Probably not needed.
Good luck.

I'm sure this should be done on this model every few years depending on the environment. Let me know what you do. I think it's worth the $ 200. It will make a big difference in the picture quality.

I have a Mitsubishi 52327 with new bulb but somewhat Faint & Not as detailed on HD. I cleaned the filter and vacuumed the bulb/fan area. The fan was dirty with accumulation of dirt on blades. Do the mirrors need to be cleaned? Cable guy just left & no problem with HD Box and cable connections. Please advise.

Sounds like you may need a new lamp according to my Samsung DLP manual for a HLR4667W.

"Why do I need to replace the lamp?
The lamp used in a DLP TV has a limited lifespan. For the best screen quality it needs to be
replaced periodically. After replacing the lamp, the screen quality will be bright and clear as new."

try reseting the camera back to default settings, there should be a function for that in the menus or a small reset hole somewhere in the camera.

I have a 65 inch mitsu DLP, replaced the bulb 6 months ago.. Worked fine until this week.. Now the TV will power up, turn on, then show a picture for a second then go black.. It repeats this nonstop.. ...

Sounds like the Lamp is over temperature. Either the fan went out or the filter is clogged! You might check the filter first. I hope this will help you...

Pictue is dark as hell

use the advanced options page and reset the factor blue and red convergence defaults then do re apply the auto color defaults color at first it seemed very red (which is good because red was the missing factor in the green picture) but after reseting all the color and tints to the normal ranges I then reset the color auto correct again and all seems fine.

CANON Rebel RTI Outdoor pictures are dark

learning to use light metering correctly can have its challenge.
the manual will guide you on how to set up to read light from the subject. spot metering a dark area will cause general overexposure, or a washed out look. spot metering a bright area will cause a dark image. if you are on spot meter and shoot two people standing together against a bright lit background, your meter will see between them if they are centered, and read all that bright background, setting the camera to a less sensitive combination of aperture / shutter speed, resulting in a dark image. use field averaging meter setting and be sure you are metering the subject and not the background. try shooting a wall that is fairly clear of other colors and uniform it light hitting it, you should have a correctly exposed image. since it works in other modes (at least 1, anyway) then it is unlikely you have an exposure compensation issue. that is the only other non defect issue that would cause your problem.
once you confirm that you have these settings correct and still get a dark image, its time to have it serviced.
good luck

you "tooled around with the convergence board" well this chassis has several problems if the convergence doesnt hold replace both stks resolder around that area per tosh tech bulletin the bright problem is probably the hyper module all toshs should be checked with toshiba website to see if they were part of the recalls for power supply caps

JVC AV-27530 Sudden changes in brightness

This sudden changes in brightness are caused by the change in voltage inside the tv,not in the outlet in the wall but inside the set,The changes are an indication something is going wrong and it needs to be corrected, the set does have a brightness limiter but it only works when the set wants to get brighter than normal,You need the assitance of a servicer to correct this problem.
