Question about Husqvarna Garden

1 Answer

Husky GTH2654. Went to engage PTO and engine stopped. Since then we can get it started by bypassing with a screwdriver but, when we pull the knob to engage the PTO, we have to disengage immediately because the engine shuts off.

SOURCE: john deere 2010 tractor. pto grinds and wont engage

The PTO usually has a clutch that has to be engaged so that you can select the PTO rotation setting. I had a problem like that on my tractor and all it needed was a little adjustment on the PTO clutch lever, so it could disengage the PTO gearbox properly.

SOURCE: Husqvarna yth2448 pto switch kills motor/battery will not charge

you may hav a bad alt. problem with the mower dying when you engage the pto is most likley a bad sensor or wire unplugged on the seat sensor.the way it works is if the blades are turning and it dosent sense you being on the seat the mower shuts down.this has been standard on mowers for quite a few years now. it keeps the blades from cutting you up if you fall off the seat while mowing. as for charging i would try cleaning the battery connections and get the battery checked first.

My Husqvarna LGT 2554 deck hung up on high spot mowing. Turned off deck & mower pushed by hand. Engaged deck, started to mow, wound to stop. Belts fine. Pull up on knob to engage, you get nothing.

The engine runs but the blades do not engage? Make sure the wire connecting the electric clutch is still plugged in. If all is connected and the belt is really fine, there is a problem with either the electric clutch or PTO switch.

What causes fuse to blow every time I try to engage blades?

To engage the blades is it a knob to an electric switch that you pull?
If so does the wire from the switch activate a electric clutch?
Is the wire damaged and shorted to the frame, is the clutch shorted. If you provide the brand name and model number I might be able to find a schematic for your mower.

You need to check the wires from the clutch, with the ignition on pull the pto switch out there should be a 12 volt supply at the wires if not replace the pto switch, if you have 12 volts then it is the clutch itself, they are not realy repairable, so may need a replacment.

Wheelhorse 314 engines dies when pto is engaged

I am assuming you have a manual PTO clutch since you did not mention a PTO switch. The starting circuit generally is a series of switches wired in line (series) with each other. You have bypassed the seat but there is usually a switch for neutral, PTO, oil level, and clutch. You will need to trace the wires from one to the other to find the problem. If the seat has a double switch (3 or 4 wires) it is wired through the PTO switch which may be a double switch to short out the ignition so that part of the circuit should stay open to operate. If the oil level is ok and the oil has been changed as recommended you may better consult a Wheelhorse service person. Bypassing the switches is for testing only! I DO NOT RECOMEND LEAVING ANY SAFETY SWITCH BYPASSED. Any defective or out of adjustment switch should be replaced or corrected.

Belt. came off... pulling up blade engagement knob nothing seems to happen.....I have trackter up on blocks with blade cutting height at 1 with engine runnig the blade engagement knob switch ...

sounds like a bad PTO, that is the electrical gizmo on the bottom of the engine's driveshaft which engages the bottom pulley, running the deck. you might luck out and find the fuse is blown so follow the wire from the PTO back until you find the fat part in the wire. the fat part is an in line fuse holder with a fuse in it. if the fuse is bad and blows again, you need a new PTO

You have several safety switches on your unit. The engine should not start if the PTO safety interlock is engaged. Be sure PTO switch is off.
If the sarter Does Not Work Or Will Not Turn Engine Brake pedal is not depressed.
or the PTO is engaged.
Battery terminals are corroded. or Fusible Link in starting circuit is blown - (Not likely unless bad wires) Here is a link to your wiring diagram (maybe your model)

http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=Pq1tOfiS
Notice how the starting circuit goes through the brake pedal (must be depressed) and the PTO switch (must be disengaged) and that the PTO only works with operator present. Print that page while link still works.

Intermittent PTO Problem on John Deer 6400

You likely need the speed sensor replaced in the rear of the tractor, either above or below the pto shaft. There is also a pto relay module beside the fuse panel that may need to be replace(only on the early 6000 series tractors, later it was replaced by the bcu).If you can get the codes from the bcu and relay the info to me i can likely tell you for sure what you need to do if none of the above works.

Cub cadet dead as a door nail

I have the same mower. The wires do need to be connected. It is a safety feature on the cubs. The engine will not start if the electric PTO is engaged. I just went into the garage, pulled the pto lever out to engage, pushed down brake, tried to start and it would not start. I suggest reattatching the wires and trying it. Hope this helps.
