It's a vague description...

A/
If you see a blank screen and you can hear some noises... it will be the screen (LCD) , Plug it into a computer Monitor and see if you get a picture off it.

B/
If you get nothing, no sound and no screen it will be power related. It is either your external power supply or the internal power in the computer. If you have another external power supply, try that or if it is the internal power supply you will need a repair person to fix it.

My Toshiba Satellite A105-S2031 laptop won.t boot up. When I turn on the laptop the two small lights below F 10 and F 11 light off then the computer turns off.

Try removing the battery (in case it's shorted), plug in the power adapter and boot to bios (using F2, F10, etc). Be sure there are no USB memory sticks connected, etc. If you are able to boot to bios, great! Then, it's a matter of eliminating the root cause: either battery or hard drive. If you don't boot to bios, then you're most likely facing a hardware problem. It may be as simple as an unplugged cable.
If you can't boot to bios, consider connecting an external monitor to rule out LCD display problems.

Toshiba nb300 windows starter won't boot. PXE-E61 media test failure. check cable.

If your computer is working fine, then disable PXE boot in BIOS or remove from 1st boot option. This is a LAN (network) boot option. It can't find a DHCP server, that's why the media test failure is displayed. It's usually used to load an OS image from network.

For the most part not a real problem. More of a warning. Some corporate models use PXE to mass image.
If there is a problem (won't boot) then it lost communications to hard drive, and you need to check BIOS for hard drive.

The laptop won't boot

probably the hard drive in your laptop is gone.
try booting ubuntu in live mode, so without installing it.
when the boot is completed, launch the tool gparted and see if it detects the hard drive: if it doesn't, you need to change the hard disk..

I have a Toshiba Tecra M7 that won't boot and up until this morning nothing worked. This is what I've done so far this morning WHEN it does decide to boot. 1. Power up computer from off with ESC...

Your hard drive may have gone south. Remove it and check with diagnostic software. Bad sectors in critical areas of operating system data will do this.

Computer won't boot. Message says Operating system not found. Tried Ctrl Alt Del and turning it off. What else can I try?

Hi there, My Toshiba had this in the users manual in all programs. As you start your Toshiba press the zero key at the same time. You can also buy a disk from Toshiba. You have to go into setup and change the boot order so that CD ROM is first in line in order to boot from a CD.Choose quick format.and follow the prompts.Do not chose repair and keep the same partition size. There will be a small partition for Toshiba stuff so just leave it there.Good luck and Thank You for choosing FixYa......................Darryel
