Question about Packard Bell Computers & Internet

Open Question

Clean cooling fan on my PB Easynote TJ65 but how? All the videos and pics I found, were from a different laptop type. So far, so bad. After taking out all the little srews on the backside, it's still not possible to move it (the whole monitor is somehow connected or constructed with the back- and frontside materials). What 2 do? Anybody?

SOURCE: Toshiba Satellite M35X-S161 - No Video

There are generic (well, platform-agnostic) and free utility programs e.g. indexed on VersionTracker, used for fan control (FanGUI, smartFan, etc.) and power management which should work without interfering terribly with that Toshiba utility. Even so, it's possible you'll need to take out a misbehaving power-saving daemon (using Task Manager or whatever.) That suggestion to fiddle with the sleep levels is reasonable; another component you might update or refresh to work in concert with those tools is the system BIOS, which sets the addresses for all those sensors where Toshiba's tools can get at 'em.

Well any software programs like skype, msn, or yahoo messenger will automatically use ur cam without doing anything. If ur wanting to snapshop pics then u can go into ur control panel and should see an icon 4 it there. You can drag and drop a short cut from ur control panel to ur desktop for later use.

SOURCE: I have had my Easynote

Hi had the exact same problem with my TJ65.
It seems that the problem is caused by the ALPS drivers.
I downloaded and installed a driver for synaptics touchpad and it worked like charm (you you actually have to use a different manufacturers driver for it to work).
You can get it from here:

SOURCE: The Cooling fan of my HP/Compaq Presario CQ60

Hi.

Click on the link below for the maintenance & service guide for the HP Compaq Presario CQ60 laptop. The guide will take you through every step of the laptop disassembly and is very easy to follow, basically you can't go wrong!!

HP are also very good at getting you spare parts but can be expensive. You maybe better off getting one from somewhere like eBay for example. Click on the below link for an idea of how much a CPU fan would cost from eBay.

I have replaced the screen in my Easy Note TJ65 but the screen is still white

Did you diagnose first?

1) First thing to check is to make sure the graphics chipset is OK.

[Chip and Chipset are slang terms for I.C.
Integrated Circuit,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Integrated_Circuit

The I.C. for graphics is the graphics chipset, or more properly, the G.P.U.
Graphics Processing Unit,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GPU ]

A) Laptop OFF, monitor OFF, connect a VGA monitor to the blue VGA port, on the left side of the laptop.

You can use a CRT type of monitor (Looks like a small TV), or a flat LCD screen monitor if it has a VGA Cable,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VGA_connector

(Scroll down a little bit for example of VGA Cable)

B) Turn the monitor on. If a CRT type allow it to warm up a couple of minutes.
Turn the laptop on.
No display on external VGA monitor?

Hold the Fn key down, and tap once on the F8 key.
(The F8 key is the Display Toggle-Over key)

Still no? Hold the Fn key down again, and tap once more on the F8 key.

[There are at least 3 display options available;
1) Internal monitor of laptop ONLY
2) Internal monitor of laptop AND external VGA monitor
3) External VGA monitor ONLY ]

Good display on external VGA monitor = good graphics chipset.

Going on.
The problem is the Video Cable, or in the Display Assembly.

Small primer;
An LCD screen does not produce light. It needs an additional light source.
A Backlight is the additional light source.

A Backlight can be a CCFL, (Or two of them), or a series of LED's.
(Light Emitting Diode)

A CCFL is a Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp.
Similar to Fluorescent lighting used in homes, and businesses, but on a MUCH smaller scale.
Average thickness is 2mm. That is a little larger than 1/16th of an Inch.
Average length is almost as long, as the LCD screen is in height.

The Packard Bell Easynote TJ65 uses LED backlighting.

A screen Inverter is used to convert the power (Electricity), from the laptop; for the LCD screen, and Backlight.
LED backlighting does not use a screen Inverter.

http://www.laptopscreen.com/Spanish/model/Packard%20Bell/EASYNOTE%20TJ65/

Primer over.

You are down to the Video Cable, since you have installed a new LCD screen.

The Video Cable connects to the motherboard either under an area, under the Keyboard; or under the Switch Cover.
It then leads across the motherboard, and through the left Hinge.

From there the Video Cable leads into the Display Assembly, and connects to the LCD screen, and LED backlighting.

Due to just normal repeated opening, and closing of the laptop; the Video Cable connections TO motherboard, and/or TO back of LCD screen; may become loose.

Connection at motherboard side needs to be physically checked; to ensure this connection is not the problem.

You also may not have made a good connection to the back of the LCD screen.

(And it would be logical to also check the LED cable connection, while you are at it. Even though a bad LED connection would cause a dark screen, and not a White one)

Also the Video Cable's sheath should be visually checked for obvious signs of damage.
Any apparent signs of damage to the sheath of the Video Cable; may also mean damage to the tiny wires inside the cable.
(Stretched/Broken)

In your situation you need to know for SURE, if the Video Cable is good. Video Cable should be removed, and a multimeter set to OHM's is used, to check continuity of every wire in the Video Cable.

An economical multimeter is around $5 to $12, if you do not have one. Or take to a small computer shop, and have it checked for a few bucks.

Video Cable checks out for continuity, and connections are Tight; you have a bad new LCD screen, or the wrong one.

joecoolvette

You can remove the bezel and use a penhead to the button. Or maybe find the bezel online to replace your broken one.

The MAC id is often on a sticker on the bottom. If not you can access it through control panel. What version of windows are you running?

Most versions you can click Start, then Run, and in the box type ipconfig/all

You can search and download them freely at the site below. Packard Bell does not have a US/Canada support site, so you have to use the UK one.

Packard bell easy note tj65 will not power up

the short cable running from the power button to the main board has probably snapped where it passes over the RH hinge. remove the screen surround to gain access to the power on switch area and check. it would seem to be a common fault with the packard bell

My PB Easynote R1938 refuses to boot/start up!

Hi. You may have disconnected the fan by mistake when unscrewing it, so the laptop closes down when the system detects the fan isn't working. I would check the fan. It should have a tiny cable which plugs into the motherboard.

Otherwise the only solution may be to remove the hard drive and install it in another laptop, then you can access the data from there.
