My sony cfs-w360boombox plays tape at high speed upon play, normal or high speed poition

there may be 2 possibles

1, the pinch roller is not going down and staying in the fixed when during playback, easy way to check power down the unit, press play and see if it looks firm, it will push back, if working right

if its loose, it may well have come off a little sping, and may well be an easy ish fix, by someone who know about cassette decks,

2, the speed adjustment has failed, there will be an internal speed control, which keeps the playback at a correct speed, if this has failed it may be fixable, but only by someone who can take it to bits and remove and solder a new one in, and they are very small and Sony items i have had have failed on speed control! too for me its a junker box

good luck

Can play DVDs, butcannot play CDs. Indicates

The CD disc plays at much slower speed than the DVD, the selector ic is responsible for automating the correct speed, when this fails it cannot read the intented disc. I would use the DVD player until it gives out simply because repair cost can't be justified.

Either your wireless router is too far away or your internet is simply too slow to play online.

The disc drive will not upload from a dvd so cannot install anything but will play dvd film could it be the laser that has packed up? hardware manager says hard ware working can you help,or does it need...

Films often play but (which relies on more speed and system resources can fail). If its with all data discs then chuck it and get a new one. Easy to install and doesnt need any drivers.

Rcd159a boom box PLL digital radio- plays all the old mp3 cd's with a write speed 16x & under but any newly burnt one with the high speed disks fail

That's not unusual. Slower burning speed results in a deeper burn which is easier for some players to read. Unlike commercial discs which are highly reflective, burned CDs don't bounce as much light back to the laser in the pickup. Too fast a writing speed when burning can make some discs unreadable. This is why some older players can't read burned CDs at all; they were never sensitive enough to begin with. It's always a good idea to keep the write speed low (16x or so) when making CDs that will be played back in a regular CD player or boom box.

This problem is more likely to occur as the CD pickup ages and the laser weakens. If higher-speed burned discs used to play and now are having problems, it's probably time to replace the boombox (or the pickup assembly if you're ambitious). If the higher-speed discs never played, the player just can't deal with them and you'll need to keep the write speed down when burning CDs.

There is a fast play switch on the side of the unit. That switch may be failing. Try moving it back and forth repeatadly to clean up the contacts.

Motor plays at a very slow speed

capstan belt may be failing. check this by removing lid and touch the capstan flywheel when running. if it is easily stalled/slow to come up to speed and or the belt slipping badly then belt will require replacement.
