Question about Acer Aspire 5672WLMi Notebook

2 Answers

Black screen Acer aspire 5672 black screen, backlight works. core and system temperature is way below 50°C. I have the latest BIOS from Acer. Started with some flickering from time to time. Then after a week the the flickering screen became more like the screen occasionally going black, then after some minutes it worked again. Its occurence is quite bysantic. I think it can have something to do with a hot GPU, but Im not sure as if I shake the laptop a litle bit the picture comes back on. Often it helps to turn the laptop off an wait for sometime until switching it on again, but not always. Sometimes there can be periods of days without any problem at all. I have a new heatsink, and the Thermal pads are replaced with some good quality silver compound. I have adjusted the graphic accleration to lowest settings, but even then I get some problems. Are there any other troubleshooting I could do, before I order a new motherboard?

    Thanks a lot hor helping.
I ran a memtest86 in two cycles and it did not find anything wrong with the memory. I Have some spare memory modules that I will try out next time this occure.
One more thing that I did not mention earlier; The screen also keeps flickering while in BIOS and during boot.

shynysaxena, I do not think I can give you other rating than tumbs up on "was this helpful" and then tumbs up on "did this solve your problem" I did not notice the latter one. I guess that is why you only got 4 out of 5.

No. Don't order motherboard now... try changing RAM. Similar problems are because of faulty RAM only. And it won't cost you more to replace the RAM. Its very certain you will get rid of this problem by this only.

Yours welcome...it was nice helping you... regarding such flickering i can tell that this is very very "usual" in laptops because while boot up the Graphics card is reset many times by processor so there is nothing to worry about it !!! also, i think you were not completely satisfied by my solution thats why you only gave 4/5 rating... i hope this time i'll get 5/5 rating... and i'm sure you won't worry about flickering anymore...its with all laptops dear !!!

It could be the internal wiring or the ribbon wire going to your monitor screen is messing with you. When you tap the unit may be something inside it become shorted to a neighboring contact or being misplaced. This can also give error.

Its unlikely the ram since it could still boot up. Commonly when ram is out it is a black screen and no POST at all.

Acer aspire one 722-c62kk bios corrupted. No boot. Black screen. bios P1VE6 1.08

You have a mbr virus.

Download The following iso listed below. It is the latest version of the Kaspersky rescue disk. You need to burn it to a bootable flash drive with a program like Imgburn (Which is also FREE like the iso file). Then you need to boot from the flash drive and run the scanner. It should fix you right up.

Acer Aspire 4930 not starting.... only black screen

Hook a spare monitor to the video output, usually on the back, if picture okay! the LCD screen on the laptop has a bad inverter board or the backlight behind the screen has failed. But if both show the same symptom the Video Graphics Card is bad usually built into the motherboard.

Hi, my acer aspire one though is on, its screen "dead"

Try attaching an external monitor to the laptop & see if you could get any display on it. If this is successful, then you might have either a faulty LCD cable or screen inverter board.
The LCD cable transfers data signal from the motherboard & video card to the LCD screen. It also supplies high voltage DC power to the screen inverter board. The screen inverter board works as a power supply for the backlight lamp mounted inside the LCD screen. It converts low voltage DC power to high voltage AC power needed for the backlight lamp.

Black screen acer aspire 4315, changed screen & inverter but still no joy any help please.

If the screen is black and the power light & fan still work....try this:

ASPIRE ONE BIOS FLASH RECOVERY

First format an USB stick with FAT.

Download the latest BIOS, and put both FLASHIT.EXE and the BIOS file in the root directory of the stick. Rename the BIOS file to ZG5IA32.FD, that's important. Do not remove the USB stick.

Turn the AA1 off, make sure both battery and AC adapter are connected. Press Fn+Esc, keep it pressed and press the power button to turn the AA1 on. Release Fn+Esc after a few seconds, the power button will be blinking. Press the power button once. The AA1 will now initiate the BIOS flash, do not interrupt it under any circumstances. After a while the power button will stop blinking, and the AA1 will reboot shortly after. Wait patiently.

The BIOS has been flashed and all settings reset to default.

If for some reason you made a mistake during the procedure and it doesn't reboot by itself wait 5 minutes before turning it off, just to be safe that it isn't still flashing the BIOS.

Acer aspire one model zg5 when boot up, screen remains black

Hi,

There are approx 6 reasons why this might happen:

  1. The backlight has gone (Find a dark place and shine a torch into the screen and see if you can see an image in the background, if you see an image then the backlight has gone) - Needs a new backlight (Engineer to remove and fit) or have a new panel fitted.
  2. The panel has died - Need a new panel
  3. A cable has worked itself loose or is broken
  4. The inverter has gone - Need new inverter
  5. Long shot, the bios has got corrupted - Engineer could re-flash the bios
  6. Long shot, Mainboard onboard graphics has gone - Need new mainboard
My personal opinion is that the backlight or inverter has gone - Either way it needs to be opened up to repair it, consult a service centre and get a quote or repair it yourself if your up for it.

Thanks

Acer One pc notebook black screen?!

That is a problem of BIOS. U need to reset your BIOS.
Acer Aspire One BIOS Recovery
The AA1 has a built-in BIOS recovery routine, making it possible to flash the BIOS even if the system doesn't boot anymore. It's only meant for emergencies and may void your warranty, so use at your own risk.

Follow every step carefully!
