Check its speaker first. If found OK, check and replace damaged component/s at its audio output section circuit. If you're sound in electronics and If you wish to get more details, check this link. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Selecting the view option, either to Mosaic / Time slide, can be selected by the drop-down list, at the top left of the display window, will make surf easy. My tv has no sound

increase the volume to max level .close yourself to TV speaker and listen.if could not hear anything, just turn it off and turn on if you could not hear at least pop sound from the speaker, you will have to replace new speaker.if you are able to hear Buzz noise or very low sound ,sound circuit has to be repaired.

Sound is low

try to see if the wave volume is on and maximum on the volume panel ( double click on vol icon on tray system (right low) ) ...also see if your speakers are plugged into the proper place ...and are not in the auxiliary out or something like this ...they should be plugged into the green middle out ...if they are simple stereo 3,2 jack ...so ..if the problem its still on ..its probably the sound card...(actually the pre-amplifier on it ..)

Have to turn the volume near max on my Onkyo receiver to hear TV

it sounds like a source level adjustment refer to your users manual and see if there is a way to turn the SLA up and if not then a small amp can be bought or purchased to boost the sound from the tv. check out the Fiio E5 for examples it might just do the trick

I have a Vizio 42' and a cable box and there's a constant humming

I think I had the same problem. This is how I fixed it.

I have my vizio 42 hooked up to a Harmon Kardon surround sound, and the digital cable box. Essentially, I can adjust the volume 3 ways - through the tv, cable box or av receiver. The humming sound happens when you have the volume maxed out on the av receiver and not the cable box.

For example, the sound level on my Harmon Kardon goes from -10 (lowest) to 10 (loudest), with 0 being the middle ground. The buzzing was happening when the Harmon Kardon was set to 10, and I was using the cable box volume to adjust the sound. To fix it, I turned down the volume on my receiver to 0, which may be about 50% max volume of the receiver. Then, I switched devices and used the volume on my cable box. This got rid of the static I was getting. Hope that helps.

WON'T CHANGE CHANNELS ADJUST VOLUME OR SHUT OFF

If the volume buttons work when using the Radio, then the buttons on the Remote are fine.
Now if the volume on your TV is set to MAX and you can barely hear it.
The issue lies with your TV.. ()
Now if I understand correctly or if I am to assume you are using a Reviever.
If the reciever is used for all volumes... If this is the case.
I also assume the volume on the TV Speakers is set to off
Therefore when you use the Radio/DVD the volume control is using the Reciever volume.
and when you switch to TV it uses the TV volume thus the TV volume is not gonna work as well.
2 scenarios
1 The TV volume even at max is not giving you enough power to get the low receiver volume
2 the Receiver volume is at max and barely audible.. if this is the case just manualy adjust your TV volume to get it to a decent sound level.

Hard to explain but I know the 2 issues can be fixed.

Volume turned to MAX for almost no sound from record player

You will need to purchase small box that converts your phono magnetic cartridge level output to a higher line input level before it goes into the TV input jack. Radio Shack used to sell a small amp for about $20 that was made just for that purpose and was called a stereo pre-amplifier and was model number SPA-50 and it plugged into the standard wall outlet to get power. Back in the "old" days when phono magnetic cartridges first became popular some of the older home stereos had only the ceramic phono style inputs (or an aux. input) which were about the same input level as a tape input or aux. input (or TV input) and so you would have to use one of these adapters to boost the newer magnetic cartridge signal up to the same level as a ceramic cartridge in order to use a new style of phono. This will fix your problem if you can find one at Radio Shack or some other place, perhaps on the internet. Hope this helps you.
