It sounds like you're battery has died, has you've possibly over charged it. You will find new battery's online cheaper than actually going to some sort of shop. Just simply type in the model name on google and add battery. :) Hope this helps

SOURCE: ASUS laptop model A6000 Power supply

I have a similar problem. The laptop switches into battery mode irregularry, even if no battery is inside. It runs stable with power cord connected for some minutes or hours, but sometimes switches off with no warning.
I have taken a new power cable, but still the same problem. The battery is broken, it only lasts some minutes.

SOURCE: I lost my power cord

You will need to buy another power cord for the exact model of your laptop. You can either find it in local computer stores, or you can search for it on (usually search by laptop make & model, & usually buy from a top seller).

If you have access to a multi-meter check that the power brick is delivering the correct DC voltage at the plug that connects to the laptop. Remove the battery from the laptop and see if the computer runs.
The two common problems are either the power brick has failed in which case it can be replaced, (check ebay), or the battery has failed, same fix can be used.

Light is blinking but not video or set not running

Sounds close to a very common problem although not sure which light is blinking nor what is meant by 'set not running' so here is the solution that has worked for others with very similar issues

aptop Computer powers on but display not working
Most likely solution for the following brands:
Acer, Asus, Aspire, Compaq, Dell, Fujitsu, Gateway, Hewlett Packard, HP, Lenovo, MSI, Panasonic, Samsung, Sony, Targus, Toshiba

1. Power off PC
2. Unplug power cord from PC
3. Remove battery
4. Hold down Power On key for 30 seconds.
5. Plug in power cord.
-DO NOT replace battery in your PC
6. Power on PC

This could indicate a bad battery. Try removing the battery and powering on the laptop. If the power LED remains white then you have a problem with the charging circuit. That means your battery could be defective or the battery charging circuit on your motherboard is faulty.

Laptop crashes shortly after boot, power light rapidly blinks red.

Its late, so just to make sure I'm not brain-dead basically your laptop runs fine as long as its powered by the AC adaptor but dies fairly quickly while running via battery. This is very typical of a battery that will no longer hold a charge, not normally a user repairable item. It could also be that the charging electronics (in the laptop) isn't charging the battery, again not a typical user repair job. About your only option short of taking it to the repair shop is buying or borrowing a battery as a test.
