I cannot use vuze as my default torrent download manager

Try uninstalling ilivid using a 3rd party Uninstaller. I would recommend Revo Uninstaller, which has a free version. Once revo is installed, open it up and you can see the list of programs installed. From the list, uninstall ilivid. During the uninstallation process, select the medium option. It will also show the registry entries. Delete all the entries and complete the uninstallation.

What is a binary file

A binary file is commonly referred to as a windows executable file.
These files are denoted by the .exe trailing the end of the file name.

These two terms "binary" and "executable" can be used interchangeably in this scenario.

An .exe file or executable is a file that launches a program or installation of a program... thusly called executable, as it executes a command.

Hope this helps!

Cheers!

I didn't install openoffice in linux5.3. Plz send article or installation process for guide.

Installation Steps The following steps assume you want to install OpenOffice on a multi-user Linux setup in an area accessible to all users on your system. This is referred to as a "network" or "multi-user" setup. Additionally you may install OpenOffice in a "single-user" setup. Consult details in the User Setup Guide (a pdf file) included with the installation archive for further details. These instructions assume you are using some X11 window manager to perform the actual installation. The setup is an X application.
  1. Make sure you are root
  2. Download the tarball from OpenOffice.org (the download can be done from any user account and then moved), and extract the tarball (.tar.gz file) to a temporary directory.
"/tmp" is a good place for example. For the purpose of this example, I will assume you have downloaded the tarball to your /tmp directory.
  3. Open a terminal, such as xterm or konsole.
To extract the tarball, change to the /tmp directory: cd /tmp
and extract the tarball: "tar -zxvf [tarball name]".
  4. This should create a directory "OOo_1.1x_LinuxIntel_install".
("x" in this sense is a suffix to version 1.1 that will depend on the version you downloaded.)
  5. Change into this directory: "cd OOo_1.1x_LinuxIntel_install".
  6. Execute the setup script for a "network" installation.
This is done with the following command: "./setup -net"
This is a friendly installation process which will prompt you for a destination directory and other OpenOffice installation options. When the setup is finished, you should have a complete "network" installation installed in the destination directory you specified. Tips on installing OpenOffice.org with an NFS setup can be found on our nfs tips page. Note: It is NOT advisable to install over an existing OpenOffice installation. If you want to use the same destination as an existing version of OpenOffice, delete the contents of the existing directory!
  7. Part of the installation process includes telling OpenOffice about your Java installation. Normally this can be automatically found or you may need to supply it, or install the JRE supplied with OpenOffice if you don't already have it installed. (But see Prerequisites for more control over this.)
  8. Each user on your system should then execute the user-setup for OpenOffice.org.
To do so, login as a regular user, then change into the program directory where you installed OpenOffice.org:
    "cd /opt/OpenOffice.org1.1.0", for example
    and execute the following command:
    "./setup"
The user portion of setup will now execute. Tell setup to perform a Workstation installation (should copy about 1.4 MB of files to your home directory) and typically let it default to the directory it recommends for storage of the local files in your user directory.
    Example: "/home/billg/OpenOffice.org1.1.0"
Follow the instructions and fill in your contact details. If your users have been previously running an older version of OpenOffice, they should delete the current version of ".sversionrc" before starting up the newly installed version. This will reinitialize the version information for the new setup.
  9. That's it! If you use GNOME or KDE (provided your distro keeps the KDE user files in ~/.kde2), you will find that OpenOffice.org is fully integrated in your environment. If you use a different Windowmanager, you can start OpenOffice.org by typing ~/OpenOffice.org1.1.0/soffice
  10. You may remove the install files in /tmp, if you are done installing. (thanks to Henrik Eismark for pointing this out)
Have Fun!

I refurbish cptrs for needy & received a Dell PPL or CPiA laptop. Went to Dell and downloaded *.app driver files but don't know how to make *.app work as a driver. Ideas? Oh- Can't get Dell techs to...

It is very simple. Usually drivers comes in the .ZIP, .RAR, .MSI or .EXE formats. Download the drivers in any folder. Then download the winrar software and extract the program at another place. You will find setup.exe or install.exe or similar file to execute. Execute the file and i will do everything automatically. But this will work only with any version of microsoft windows. For MSI or EXE files, just douuble click on their icon and they will do it for you. :-) (ehteshamhusain@gmail.com)

I downloaded files for City Navigator 2010, but I can't figure out how to get them onto my Garmin c330 streetpilot. There is no "setup" file or any other executable. Help?

If the file is downloaded from the official page myGarmin, the file will be named something among the lines CNEU_2010 .. it should be an executable file which requires only to be ran, and then the installation on both your PC and GPS will start.

Error Message 'F:\ setup.exe is not a valid win32 application'

This issue can be caused by any of the below possibilities.
  1. File is corrupt, bad, or missing.
  2. File is not designed for your version of Windows.
  3. File is a virus, worm, or other malware file.
  4. Hardware incompatibility.
Answer: File is corrupt, bad, or missing
If the file or program you're attempting to run is corrupt or missing, Windows will be unable to execute the file properly and sometimes generate this error message.
Download files
If you downloaded this file and verified it is complete and compatible with your version of Windows, delete the file and try downloading and running it again. It's possible during the download that the file became corrupted.
Finally, if the second download does not work, try downloading the file from a different webpage. It is possible that the person or company maintaining the website mistakenly uploaded a corrupt version of the file you're attempting download.
Installing a program from a CD or other disk
If you're attempting to install a program and are getting this error, verify that the CD is clean. If the CD is dirty or bad, you could get this error during the install and/or get this error after the program has been installed because it was not copied properly onto the computer.
  • Additional information about cleaning a CD can be found on our cleaning page.
Running a program from the computer
If you're running the program from a shortcut on the computer, verify that the program is still on the computer. In some cases if the program is no longer installed on the computer you may get this error.
If the hard disk drive is corrupted or bad it can also cause working programs to fail either because not all the data can be read from the hard disk drive or because the program has become corrupted while on the drive. Run scandisk and defrag on the hard disk drive to check for any potential errors.
Long file name issue
Make sure the program or file you're attempting to run does not contain the same name as the long file name directory it is contained in. For example, executing a file named "program" in the "program files" directory can cause errors in some versions of Windows.
Additionally, if you're attempting to install a program and after the install the program does not work, you may also want to try installing the program in a different directory.
Bad file
Any file can be changed or renamed to be a .exe file. If you're downloading the file, make sure the file is supposed to be a .exe file and that it's not being changed. If you're attempting to create a .exe, file make sure you're compiling the file for Windows and never just rename a file to a .exe file. For example, renaming a .bat file to a .exe file will not make the file an executable file. For a file to become an executable file it needs to either be compiled or converted through a software program designed to convert the file.
File is not designed for your version of Windows
If you're trying to run a program that is not designed for your version of Windows you may get this error. Although many older programs designed to work in older versions of Windows will work with new versions of Windows, unfortunately, not all programs will work.
  • If the program is an older MS-DOS program or early Windows program you may get this error.
  • If the program is designed for a 64-bit version of Windows and you're running it in a 32-bit version of Windows, it will not work and generate this error.

I was a little frustrated reading the above...being a PC user....this apparently works well for Mac users.

first, you must 'charge' the unit for 3 hours.

IT IS an easy fix...uninstall the Picture Viewer that you got from the Disc they gave...Throw it away. Go to www.mscustomercare.com at the top of the keychain section, it says "download".............. THIS version works.
