CDC-735

Part Number VQ776900. I got it online for 99 cents but other places can be up to 7-8.00 dollars. I removed 5 screws on the sides and rear of the case. Took case off. Press the open button and help the drawer open with your hand while the motor tries to. Then remove old belt with pliers or paper clip, etc.
I did not take anything apart on the inside to replace the belt. Push the belt into the player over the larger wheel and then I pulled the belt with a paper clip over the smaller drive wheel.

Where can i find the little rubber belt that connect the motor to the drive gear that opens the CD drawer in my CD player

Depends on which Yamaha CD player you have. But this part fits many models http://www.partstore.com/Part/Yamaha+Electronics+Corporation/Yamaha/CDC655/Yamaha+Electronics+Corporation/Yamaha/VQ776900/New.aspx If you remove the old one and measure it (diameter, width of belt and cross section type e.g. square, flat or round) you can get generic replacements from any decent electronics store for about £1 in the UK. Don't forget to allow for the fact the old belt will have stretched so you'll need a slightly smaller diameter replacement. See here http://www.studiosoundelectronics.com/beltmeas.htm

Hi, Asmith3891 for this scenario you will need your service/owners manual if you can't find the best tool you ever bought for your Yamaha, despair not, for a mere zero $0 you can download another one. Need drawer belt for Yamaha CDC-805 CD changer - the one needed that opens and closes the changer's door - not sure where to get it or the part number. I thought I ordered the right one and got the 'drive'...

Any decent repair shop should have a large supply of replacement belts. The Part number isn't necessary. Just take the old one in and get a new one just 2mm smaller than the original. Some repair shops won;t sell them because they don't want you repairing your own property but a decent shop should sell you one.

I HAVE A YAMAHA CDX500U NATURAL SOUND CD PLAYER THAT HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRAY NOT OPENING.

The little rubber square belt that connect the motor to the drive gear that opens the CD drawer is the problem. Replace it for about $5,00 and your back in buisness. arcandspark

Can i fix the tray on Yamaha CDC-585 that will not close?

See if the tray motor drives a belt to move the tray, if so, check if the belt is loose or broken and replace if necessary.

You can find replacement belts in electronic part stores and on internet, you need to measure the diameter of the circle that the belt forms so you'll know what to purchase, but keep in mind that the new belt will be of a slightly smaller diameter than the used one).

Also check the tray homing switches for dirty contacts or physical damage and clean/replace if necessary.

These switches are usually of a touch contact type (something alike relay contacts that are being pressed to make a contact when the tray is in either of the extreme positions - open or closed).

It may as well be something else like tray motor control section, loose wires or connectors, physical damage to any of the tray drive gears or other tray parts, a stuck/obstructed gear... i only described two of the fairly common problems that often cause the tray mechanism to fail or malfunction.

Hope you can fix it...
