Xp200 power on password

Power On password The Power on Password and hard drive password is used to protect the laptop/computer and hard disk from unauthorized access.
The hard drive password is setup in the BIOS you need the hard disk password to remove the password. I'm afraid you may have purchased a stolen laptop/computer. It is impossible to remove a hard drive's password there are no backdoor passwords because the password is stored in the hard drive's firmware. If the laptop/computer has a Power on Password then this laptop cannot boot up.
If the hard drive is password protected then remove the existing drive, replace it with a new hard drive may fix the laptop/computer r BUT it may also set a password on the new hard disk and lock it with the same password. If it does not password protect the new hard drive, then install Windows plus laptop/computer's device drivers and programs to get a working laptop/computer.

Cant acess laptop due to password at power up

Thinkpad Power on Password is stored on an EEPROM chip and removing the BIOS battery will not reset this password.
You can access this EEPROM to get the password but you need electronic skills.

Power-on password on hp 8510p

Power On Password & Hard Disk Password
With your next laptop you should protect it with a Power On Password AND put a password on your hard disk. This will stop anyone from using your laptop and if they move the hard disk from your laptop to another laptop they cannot access the data on your hard disk with the hard disk password.
BUT you need to write down or remember these passwords; if you lose or forget them you cannot gain access to your laptop.
There are no backdoor passwords to remove these passwords.
To set up or change these passwords, go to the BIOS configuration - then security configuration. http://techtips.salon.com/reset-hp-laptop-bios-password-1476.html

My teenager set poweron password on my laptop & then forgot it I need motherboard schematic to find the password reset jumpers

Depending upon the make and model of your laptop, you may be able to remove the BIOS battery for 20 minutes for the BIOS to revert to the default settings to remove the Power On Password.
If this does not work then the Power On Password is stored on an EEPROM chip and there are no backdoor password available.
If this laptop is a ThinkPad then there is a way to get this Power On Password, but it requires a bit of work. Please click on this link and follow my instructions :-

Have a think pad 600 type 2645 with eo301 error, there is a display of a padlock w/ no1 and a blinking cursor on the top left corner

This laptop is protected with a Power on Password.
The password is setup from the BIOS configuration.
There is no backdoor password available and you need the password to boot up the laptop. Once you can boot up the laptop you can enter the BIOS configuration to remove the Power on password.
Removing the BIOS battery to restore the factory defaults will not remove the password because the password is stored on an EEPROM chip.

How to remove power on password? model# HP dv3-1075us thanks

do u mean to remove the power to reset the password because u don't know the password, if this is the case, you need to remove the internal cmos battery inside on the motherboard then put it back in, this should reset the password, if you want the box that comes up asking you for a password, then you need to go into the bios, and look for password, and disable it, to go into bios, when your laptop is booting up look for press F2, F12, F5, to enter setup, each laptop is different, might be F8, F9.

Power on password solution

If it really is a power on password you can remove it by following these steps.
1) Unplug your laptop.
2) Remove all batteries.
3) Then you must open your laptop and locate the cmos battery and unplug it for about 3-5 seconds.
4) Then put it back together and power it on.
