Question about Dryers

1 Answer

Dryer will not keep running

It is an electric dryer. Hotpoint. Checked venting, it's clear. If you press start button, it does start back up. But shuts off shortly. Is it a faulty hi limit?

HI,

if you dryer won't heat?

you do need a new motor.you need to take 2 screws out of top where lint filter goes. take top up and their will be 2 screws one on each side take screws out and pull upward and forward and the front panel will come off. you will need to remove belt and tub then you will see motor. you will need to be able to grab back side of motor that attaches to blower and front shaft of motor and turn opposite way to come loose from blower. you will then take back clip off and front clip and unplug motor and pull out. good luck hope instructions helped.

thanks,

Why kenmore dryer won't start?

Most likely you tripped the over heat fuse.

This will happen if your vent hose is clogged or worse inside the machine's plumbing from filter to vent hose.

Look up the electrical diagram and figure out where it is, yours should be in the back of the machine but verofy.

Get a Digital Volt Meter at Harbor Freight $5.00 and measure the OHMs on the fuse, if it fails then you need to replace it but first make sure vent is clear or it will trip again.

Fuse is there to keep from over heating and a fire hazard.

Post your findings,

Jim

I have a very old roper dryer (11 yrs), it quit mid cycle. It ticks when I set the timer but nothing happens. The on button quit along time ago but when you shut the door it would start. Today nothing...

You've got an open circuit somewhere in the loop betwixt the start button, the "safety" button actuated by the door, and the motor/heat coils. Trace out those circuits and you'll have that thing running in no time.

Hotpoint TDC32 keeps switching off after a short while

Yes, it sounds like the relay is the prob
It is located at the top behind the console panel.
It is a clear plastic covered box about 3" long, and held in place by 2 screws.
Changing this should solve the prob.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.

Hotpoint tdc62p changed thermostats as blowing out cold air,

Make sure that all filters are properly cleaned, and that the air inlet and outlet vents are clear. Make sure water container is empty.
The best way to clean the filter at the bottom is to run cold water through it, this will clear out all the lint.. Make sure you have the correct stats ( there are many for the hotpoint range) and that you have them in the correct position on the heater back plate.
Plz rate this solution.
thanks.
