-pulled the cord in and out
-took the battery in and out
-recharged the battery (yes it still had juice in it)

When you disconnect from the computer, do you use the "safely remove hardware" icon at the bottom right of your screen or do you just yank out the cord? When you yank, most of the time you will corrupt the card and even the camera. You can try to download your pics from the card using a separate card reader or take it to a store like Walmart that has a Kodak picture kiosk and print your pics or even make a cd of them. Then, Check your owner's manual to learn how to reset the camera. After that, format the card in the camera.

Power supply doesn't seem to supply power to Gateway labtop

Well its likely that you could have damaged the power cord. If one of the internal wires got yanked when your foot caught the cord it could have lost it's connection. Try going to an electronics store and asking if they have any universal adapters, look on the back and see if your laptop model is supported. Try it and see if it works, if not return the cord and the problem will be with the female plug in the back of the laptop. Like you said its probably not the laptop

Hope this helps, please comment back if you have any further questions or information about the problem. Feel free to leave positive feedback if this helps, thanks for stopping by at Fixya!
