There's nothing you can buy that'll reliably recoat the plates, the process of getting something that nothing sticks to to stick to the metal plates is complicated and takes special equipment.  (it's not just paint).

however, there's a company that says they'll recoat the plates for you:

I don't have any personal experience with them, but I'm checking with them on a pot that a roommate boiled dry until the teflon all peeled off *frown*

cheers.

There is a 2 year warranty on those. Otherwise nothing can be done. Teflon cannot be repaired of applied without special tools and processes. Hint: Check 2nd hand stores for other grills and they are not expensive, then you have spare parts!

If it loosing Teflon DO NOT USE IT or eat from it. The coating is TOXIC if ingested. You MUST, get another,as for whatever reason,it is coming off, you mustn't use it any more when this happens.

Can nonstick surface be replaced, how and what

I wouldn't suggest spray on Teflon - even if it can withstand high temperatures, in prolonged use the Teflon Spray you can buy isn't really supposed to be used for food prep. If the grill still works okay then keep the grill; prices of George Foreman grills have fallen due to Russell Hobbs who have brought out larger grills for the same cost.

Teflon coating comming off!!!!!

Hi,

Without getting into the availability and safety issues involving(re)coating with teflon, and without getting on my soapbox about price vs. quality, I'll simply recommend either replacing the grill plates,or just using a cooking spray. Not asconvenient, you'd have to re-apply every couple of servings, butcomparatively easier to implement on the short-term (and perhapslonger, depending on whether or not you choose to either re-coat orreplace the grill plates. Note: You want to be sure there are noexposed heating elements when you spray on the coating, or you willlikely have a flash-fire - - NOT a good thing.

I've heard that there's a Teflon(tm) re-coating product available, but never found out where, and while not achemist, I do have some college training in chemistry, and am wary offluorine-based chemicals getting in my food because of what I've readabout it.

I'd contact the manufacturer (Salton, Inc.) customer servicesite for replacement parts or manuals. If they don't have them, they should knowwhere to send you (though if they don't, I'd seriously wonder about thecompany). You might also register your opinion of the product's durability and other characteristics........(;^])

Teflon finish is bubbling

unfortunately this is a common problem among these grills, your only option is to replace it unless you have an extended warranty... if you want to keep using it, you can use a scotchbrite or similar metal pad to get rid of most of the teflon coating. if you want to replace it because you love electric grilling and don't much like teflon flakes in your food, i would recommend that your next grill have stainless steel or cast iron grilling surfaces..

hope this helps,
trin
