I have a Sony 57" dlp KP-57WS500 television diagnosed with a convergence problem.
1. I have the two STK392-560 IC. (I figure I may as well do both of them)
2. How do I get the G-board (brown) out of the TV chassis so I can desolder and resolder the two STK392-560 IC chips? I need to get under the PCB in order to desolder and to resolder the new IC's. Thanks
Mike

- ...you're right......it is a standard rear projection tv
- The D-Board (brown) and the -Board (green) are attatched with these black clip type jumpers.
1. Will these detach, if so, I can easily pull just the G-Board (brown) out of the set making it much easier.
2. You mentioned the resistors.........is it a probability that one or more of the resistors simply overheated with the caked-on dust on the resistors as well as the IC's?
You have to pull the chasis completly out the set. Make sure you know where all the wires go that u have to unplug. Also u may need to change open resistors near the convergence amplifiers.

- I think you are talking about black ground wires with metal ends. If so, yes they detach. You may need a small flat head screw driver to depress in the middle of the metal head and then pull. Dust has nothing to do with the resistors overheating. When the convergence ICs go bad they can cause resistors in the circuit to go bad. Sometimes you can visually see the burnt resistors. But you should test the resistors. You don't want to put good convergence ICs in with bad resistors.

My tv is showng a double picture and the red apears to be misaligned. I have tried to adjust manually and auto but the red still apeasr to be hanging on the upper left corner. I have also tryed to align the grid lines but the upper left corner is still way out
