There is a sweat control heater around the front edge of the fridge and freezer. It has a switch that will turn it off, usually by the other controls. It just wastes electricity.

Freezer door is leaking water on refrigirator model # frs20zshb5 the freezer side of the body where the magnetic strip touches the door is hot to the touch

You know, it's really normal to touch it hot on the door side.
Because it has heater to eliminate moist build up that can cause rust.
Check the drain pan (that is full of water) for clogged.
Unclog it using flexible solid wire and insert it on drain pan tube.
After that, those leak will be minimize.
Thanks for asking.

Center support of Side By Side is Hot to the touch

Hi, welcome to Fixya. The heat between the doors is normal and done by design to help prevent moisture along the "breaker strip"/divider. If all else appears fine, temp. Ok, fans running, no significant frost build up on freezer back wall, it's likely nothing to be concerned about. Just be sure the condensor fan isn't jammed and still turning. If not turning it can cause the unit to become extremely hot. The amount of heat can and is determined by several factor's such as, temperature setting - lower/colder the temperature is set the more the run time the hotter the strip. The ambient temperature - hotter the environment the more the unit runs the hotter the strip. The amount of "fresh" content added to the unit - new items add a lot of warmth thus demanding the unit to run more to remove this heat causing the strip to be hotter. Build up of dust & dirt on the condensor coils ( they should be vacuumed annually ) - this also causes the unit to run excessively which in turn makes for more heat on this strip. These are all things which can and do determine the amount of heat between the doors. If it is hot where you live the unit may just be running more to compensate as with other factors I mentioned. Hope this answer's your question and let me know if I can assist you further. Thank's for coming to "fixya" and good luck moving forward. Please take a second to rate the info provided here. Magnetic strip that holds door closed is hot to touch and there is an elec. smell.

Is this strip hottest between the freezer door and the fridge door? If so, then you'll need to take a look compressor area (It should be located on the the bottom of your unit near the back of the fridge) I believe it may be covered by a piece of cardboard depending on the model. Take off the cover and you will see the compressor and a condenser fan. Make sure this fan is turning and blowing lots of air when the compressor is on. If it's not running, then that's most likely your cause for the hot strip. You'll need to clean the coils and fan and maybe replace the fan if it's starting to go.

Defrost heater staying on causing rubber strip on doors to get extremely hot

hmmm... This would cause a freezer meltdown and spoiling of your food. Are you talking about the heating element behind the freezer panel ? There should be a safety to shut off the heater - there is another type of heating element to prevent moisture during hot humid summer days, controled by an "energy saver" switch - on older refrigerators - when this is on it is normal for the base between the freezer and fridge to be warm - but if it is the defrost element in the freezer, this is not normal at all - usually it should say on for around 20-25 mins or as needed - in which case you have a defrost timer / defrost components problems and need to get it serviced A.S.A.P.

Front metal , top heating element very hot

This should be OK. There are heat strips placed behind the door frame to prevent sweating around the door frame due to the metal being cold normally without the strips. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Door frame around freezer door is very hot for a long time in side-by-side refrigerator/freezer

The problem you describe is caused by the hot gas pipe that runs around the cabinet, this is normal for it too get warm, the only reason it would be very hot is that for some reason the gases are not being cooled, probable cause is that the condenser is blocked with dust or fluff, depending on axact version some are located behind the plastic trim that runs below the doors and others are in the back behind the lower rear panel.
