This is a handy utility that disable the touchpad when you're typing.

My cursor in windows 7 keeps jumping all over the place when I type or try to click on an icon how can I fix it?

Swap out the mouse.

If there is a ball underneath, remove it and clean the X and Y rollers.

When i type in my MS word or replying mail using outlook, my cursor jumps to somewhere, actually it just happened several times when i type this message

On your touch pad exists a place that works like a scroller on the mouse (Usually the right part of pad with white lining). When you rest your wrists in this area, the cursor usually jumps in another place. I'm of course hoping that this is the problem and that your touch pad works fine. Try it and please tell me if this fails..

Cursor keeps jumping back in text when typing. This results in over typing things already typed. Not sure if this is me or a problem with my new laptop ?

Hi,

This is either caused by a remaining flea power on the laptop.

Try draining the flea power first:

1. Remove the battery and ac adapter
2. Press and hold the power button for at least 10sec.
3. Put back the battery and ac adapter
4. Turn on the computer

open a notepad, or any microsoft office and check if the cursor keeps jumping. If yes, try updating the touchpad driver / BIOS update.

Hope this helps.

Try using a mouse, and then go into ctrl panel and set the touchpad option to slow to reduce the sensitivity.

Cursor jumps around

Does the cursor jump around when your hands are nowhere near the touchpad? The touchpads are heat and pressure sensitive. I personally have very warm (and sometimes sweaty) hands. I have this problem often when working on laptops. If I hover my hands over the pad, it causes the mouse to move. I've had to take a business card, put tape on one side of it, and use it as a flip-cover for the touchpad on most of my laptops. If the cursor moves around when you're nowhere near the laptop, then you may want to try disabling the pointing stick (if it has one). I've had several clients with laptops where the pointing stick mouse control go crazy and move and click on things.

Jumping cursor while using editor programs under windows xp

Does this happen with a text editor (notepad, word etc) or with on-line pages?

What OS are you using (XP, Vista, Win7)?

If it's a laptop, are you sure you're not hitting the touch-pad by accident?

Cursor jumping backwards when typing in Access/Outlook Express

Just disable the setting "show cursor during typing" in the view properties menu. Also set the dictionary to U.K. as default settings. All necessary files should be present but do connect to the net for any security updates or patches..........sodeep
