Question about Sony Televison & Video

1 Answer

Sony Bravia KDL-4023100 has a white screen, still plays sound and displays menu/messages, but no image. Displays black screen with no input message if nothing is plugged in, but goes white as soon as there is a picture it is trying to displayed. At first I thought it was the T-Con board but it wouldn't display the menu still would it? Have not found any shorts/bad caps

If it displays the menu message it must be a control board problem.
Tcon problem ususally varies in appearance and displays lines or shadding.

You either have failed 24vdc power supply section or failed backlight inverter board, check for 24vdc first, look for caps with leaking/bulging top.

SOURCE: No picture on Memorex MLTD3222 flat panel LCD.

I recently got this tv from somone because of this exact problem. I have found a solution that works for mine. You can check to see if it works for you also. What I did was take of the back cover. 3 screws (1 big one in the center and 2 little ones below it). Next look at the power board. If plugged in and turned on the red light on the power board should be lit up. If so your power board is fine. Next find the component that has 4 switches. I manually turned these on and turned the tv on and it worked! Has been working ever since!

That should go away on its own with the introduction of the input. If it is on even when something is playing than it is in the settings menu under video display.

Hi,

Try taking out the battery overnight and replace and try to turn on. If this doesn't help, then try updating your phone's firmware.

DVD'S Play only in black and white

In UK this occures when an NTSC picture is played from a DVD player to a TV which cannot enitrely hand NTSC format. Possible this will happen in the reverse for USA.

Also my TV cannot handle SVHS signals and also displays them in black and white.

Try changing settings on the DVD Player to Composite or RGB.
