Unable to view DVD on TV

I am trying to connect a new Toshiba DVD Recorder/Player to my analog GE Television Model 20GT370 Made in Aug. 1991. Toshiba and I have been unable to get the Video Input or AV Input on screen so the Toshiba unit can be recognised, therefore I am unable to see the set up instructions on screen for the DVD unit.

Thank You, but we found that the "Input" was channel 91. Thank God we found it by His guidance.

Here is a solution buy a coax to RGB converter they run from $20- $30 at radioshack this will shore up that problem as it will use channel 3 as the input of choice.

Can get analog stations recorded but not hi defination

Hi, unless the VCR/dvd recorder is hi def then you won't be able to.

Hdmi connection is hi-def, I think you can have a hi-def signal through composite, but it's your recorder thats the problem, it cannot read the number of line a hi-def signal has.

I have just found this.

I hope this helps.

Ilo DVD player/recorder

> jfthr - Tv convertor boxes transfer digital signals into ANALOG. So when it goes to the dvd recorder it IS ANALOG. I have my antenna hooked to my convertor box, the converter hooked up to the ILO (A/V connections) then, the output on the ILO to the input of my analog tv. (Video selection on my tv). It works great to watch tv and/or record. I switch to the "DVD SOURCE" to watch dvds. Maybe you have the conv box hooked to the tv then the outs on the tv to the dvd. That would explain why you can get a picture but not watch dvd? The ILO has to go between the box and the tv in order to watch dvd.

Grundig TV - Tuning DVD & VCR

Hi there!
If the DVD recorder has an RF out then you should be able to tune it on UHF bandwidth. The cable should run from the RF Out on the recorder to RF on the TV. Switch the recorder on, put in a DVD and press play before tuning. Some DVD's require a disc before a Menu appears. Good Luck, Regards, JUS004

Hooking up a DVD player to a LCD TV

Typically, there is no video out from TV. You would have to connect the satellite receiver output to the DVD recorder input and connect the DVD recorder output to the TV. Word of warning - digital signals (DTV coax or HDMI) from the satellite receiver carry copyright info embedded, which may limit what it will allow you to put on a DVD. Typically anything can be recorded on the hard drive of the recorder, but programs from subscription channels may not go to a DVD.
