Control panel not working after "function lock" buttons pressed

I have a Rinnai 1004F propane heater. It has been working wonderfully until just now when I pressed both up/down buttons on the control panel which is the "function lock" and which I thought would lock the controls at the displayed temperature. Now the only thing that is displayed is the "function lock" light, all other displays (temp. on/off etc.) aren't lit and the heater is no longer on or able to be turned on even after unplugging and replugging after which still only the "function lock" light works

MD,

Hit the up and down again and do away with the Function Lock.

I would think pushing the up and down button again would unlock it as well. If not, you better give the company a call to find out the unlock code. http://www.capefearair.com

I have a Rinnai 1004F, no manual. Vent Contol Button is in open position, its winter, should vent be closed at all? Economy button, whats it for?

Not sure about Vent Control however the Economy button is like a night time set back. Over a 2 hour period it will decrease the temperature up to 6 degrees from set point. In morning, just take off economy and unit will come up to temp. Go to www.rinnai.us for on-line manual.

What part do i change when convertin a ranni propane gas to natural gas

I think the part numbers listed in the solution are LPG injectors. The orifices (injectors) needed to change over from Propane (LPG) to Gas (NAT.) would be 2 High Injectors 100F-2031-B-1.80 and one Low Injector 1004F-2036-B-1.95.

I just bought a used Rinnai 1004f propane monitor and it came without the vent to outside. How can I get a vent? (Maybe kit) The wall is 16 inches thick. Jim Marstaller Naples, Maine

is this a vented or non vented unit? have you checked the rinnai distributorship? call Adirondack Hardware in Keeseville NY. They have parts for Toyostove, Monitors and Rinnai heaters. Their staff are very well versed in all kero and propane heaters.

Rinnai 1004F Heating the Outdoors!

Do you have the Economy button on? If so, and you have a large space to heat or the outside temp is very cold the unit may not be able to keep up. If this is the case the stove runs forever, trying to reduce the temp by 2 degrees every 30 minutes. This may not work for your space and outside temp.

Your ideas about the intake and exhaust are not quit right. There is a fan that pulls air from outside over the outside of the exhaust pipe (to preheat it). This fan actually pushed the combustion gasses all the way out the exhaust. The exhaust exiting should be a little hot. In very cold temps, frost can build up around the air intake, which is right around the exhaust pipe. If you see this you will need to keep it clean. It is a good idea to look at the exhaust everyday when it really cold.

Good luck,

Taking childlock off

This is the manual for a different model heater but maybe it operates the same way....

http://www.rural-energy.com/publications/catalog/documents/document-498.pdf

deactivate the LOCK press and hold the
button for 3 seconds until the indicator
goes off.
During normal operation the LOCK may be
activated and all controls, other than the
OFF switch, will be locked. Deactivating
the LOCK releases the controls.
If the LOCK is activated while the unit is
turned OFF, then all functions will be locked
including the ON/OFF function. If the unit
is turned OFF while the LOCK is activated,
it cannot be turned ON again until the
LOCK is deactivated.

Blinking 12 and I have no manual to indicate what that means.

A 12 code indicates a "Flame Failure" check that the gas valve on the right side of the unit is turned on. If you are using propane have you confirmed that the tank has fuel? You may be able to download the owners manual from the Rinnai website. If not you can contact themat 1-800 621-9419.
This is a great heater and the Rinnai people will be helpful. good luck!
