You should attempt to reconnect the keyboard.

To remove the keyboard, first remove the bezel above the keyboard where the screen meets the body. You should see any screws holding the keyboard either below this bezel or on the bottom of the laptop with symbols or a letter "K" "KB" KBD"

Here is a pictorial for a related model:

How do i get my acer 5715z laptop to work with external monitor , the monitor goes into power save mode as goes to log on page . My laptop monitor has a large cracked mark on it thats why i need an...

Cause If you connected the monitor power already is on, you may not get signal. Power plug off the monitor first, Then connected to laptop. Then power the laptop and power the monitor. FN key press hold with your Monitor swicthing key which symbol of two monitor shows on key probably number 5 or 6 maybe 7 check user guide if you have it.
another cause is your monitor may need driver install in your laptop, Some system required that. Check monitor system requirements.

Acer laptop spacebar fell off

The space bar key is connected tothe keyboard a little bit differently then any other key.
clip_image002.jpg
There is a metal retainer connectedto the space bar key (on some keyboard models). Separate the retainer from thespace bar key with a flathead screwdriver.
clip_image004.jpg
Install the retainer back inplace as it shown on the picture. You have to engage the retainer with thesmall hooks on the keyboard.
clip_image006.jpg
Put the space bar key back inplace and gently press on it with fingers until it snaps back in place.
clip_image008.jpg
That’s it. The space bar key isinstalled back in place and should work as before. If you still cannot fix yourkeyboard, then you’ll have to find a new oneand replace it.
Pleas rate my solution on fixya if you are done.

Beep sound on booting

If you can remember (Or lookup what version of the BIOS your computer has then go here:-

http://www.bioscentral.com/

On the right you will see "Beep Codes", this will interpret what your laptop is trying to tell you.

The most comon is loose, or poorly fitting RAM, although the problem could be more serious.

Acer Travelmate 4270

ive got the same model. mine gets damn hot too. especially after about 4hrs you can barely type on it or use the mouse pad.
i sent it back as soon as i got it. acer replaced the fan and said it was fine. 4hrs later it was running as hot as before. they probably did nothing but waste my time for 2 weeks. just poor design i spose. poor cooling system poor design. i also noticed the fan air vent is on the right hand side. again poor design, most people are right handed. getting hot air blown on your hand when using an external mouse, during a hot summer day is not pleasant. dont think ill buy an Acer again
