Hi, If the freezer is cold............ I would suspect the defrost timer. Remove everything and place in coolers or another refrigerator. Unplug the refrigerator. With doors open let it sit for aprox 6 hrs. A fan blowing into the freezer section will help. Plug back in and see if it works good again. The fans may be caked in ice and should run again but they may have burned up and need replaced. If it works good for a couple of days and problem returns, Replace the defrost timer. Hope this helps. kstfas

Hi, Yes, there is usually a hole in the defrost timer that is made to turn only one way by the way it is designed. Look into it with a flash light and you will see what I mean. Turn this until the compressor stops. However, A normal derfost will not usually defrost the evaporator if it is frozen. It will require more time than what the timer is set up to defrost. A refrigerator is very well insulated. This would give it a good start though. If the refrigerator does not restart after a derfost, turn the timer again until it does. There is usually a little window on the timer where you can see the motor running if it is. NOTE: If my solutions do not rate at least an (almost there) Please do not rate.
    Thank You,

Turned to their coldest setting, most properly functioning household refrigerators can attain minus 6 to minus 10 degrees in a normal (70-78 degrees) room. Room (ambient) temperature affects cooling performance. Colder temps will cause the unit to run significantly more.

Does Kenmore Elite upright freezer reach -20 degrees celsius, where is the info?

Hi,

Best way I can answer this is to purchase the right equipment for the job. A domestic freezer is not designed to work like that, although it may get there in temp it won't hold it. Recovery is slower then the industrial unit you seek. Domestic unit warranties are void if used for commercial settings (i.e. lunch rooms, offices, lab's, etc...) I wish I had a better answer for you but if you need a specific temperature get the correct equipment for the job. Good Luck

Refrigator does not stop running

Fridge FAN CONTINUALLY STAYS ON OR SHUTS OFF WHEN DOOR IS OPENED:

NORMALLY WHEN THIS HAPPENS U EITHER HAVE A DOOR CONTINUALLY OPEN ISSUE OR A BAD DOOR SEAL LETTING AIR IN AND CAUSING FAN TO OVERWORK ITSELF. ANOTHER CAUSE CAN BE DIRTY COILS AND CONDENSER AND LASTLY NOT TO COMMON IS A SHORT IN THE FAN SYSTEM ITSELF. A MORE PROBABLE CAUSE COULD BE BAD THERMISTORS OR EVEN COLD CONTROL THERMOSTAT ( WHEN THE THERMISTORS OR THERMOSTAT DO NOT GET/GIVE A PROPER READING, THEY CAN CAUSE THE FAN TO CONTINUE TO OPERATE AS THEY FAIL TO RECOGNIZE OR REGULATE THE PROPER TEMPERATURE.

The freezer on my Kenmore Elite Trio has stopped freezing. All my food is thawing. How do I set the freezer temperture at the coldest setting?

If the temperature is the problem this could be the solution

Problems with Temperature
If the refrigerator or freezer is not cooling properly, check temperature settings and air vents and ensure there is adequate room for proper airflow. Factory-recommended temperature settings are 0 degrees Fahrenheit (-18 degrees Celsius) for the refrigerator; and 37 degrees Fahrenheit (3 degrees Celsius) for the freezer.
If you need to adjust the temperature, do it one degree at a time and wait 24 hours before making additional adjustments. Check the air vents and make sure nothing is blocking them. Finally, if your refrigerator or freezer is too full, there will not be adequate room for air to circulate and cool properly. If these all check out, the problem could be with one or more compressor components and will require professional repair.

Hope this will help you.

I have a Kenmore bottom fridge model #596.69274991. Although things are cold and frozen, the room temp is only 70 degree but it seem to run for well over an hour although there has not been much opening...

Tom, you pretty much have it all covered. Make sure both the freezer fan and the fan under the fridge are both running and keep your eye on the inside back wall of the freezer compartment fro any signs of frost build up (possible defrost problem).
Good luck!

The problem is the fan unit that pushes cold air up to the fridg, usually located nere the back of the freezer.
