Question about Kenwood KDC-716S CD Player

Will power up,will hide, will open on igntion start

This happened some time ago, so I don't know if this is a fixable problem. One hot day the radio just died the screen went crazy then turned off. But it still goes thru the motions; when I start the car the face plate pops open like it is going to play, it gets into the correct position and then faceplates lights do a very pretty light show and thats it. The backlight is on but nothing works. I've disconnected the speakers thinking there might be a short but that hasn't helped. Oh when I turnoff the car it goes thru its shut down procedure faceplate flips halfway down 5 second delay then closes completely. is there any type of hope for this unit?

It goes thru the motions; when I start the car the face plate pops open like it is going to play, it gets into the correct position and then faceplate displays all features. When I push the buttons nothing works. When I turnoff the car it goes thru its shut down procedure faceplate flips halfway down, delayS then closes completely. Is this a ribbon problem? I've only taken the faceplate off and replaced it since the problem stated.

Just put new battery in started fine then it started to over heat and the steering wheel got hard to turn. What could be the problem? It was not like this a few days ago.

Sorry it sounds like the other two problems just happened. Try this for the overheating tape a thermometer to the upper radiator hose right next to the engine thats where the thermostat is normally or use an infrared thermometer and shine it at the top ot the housing.Make sure it is full of coolant start engine when it is getting close to normal temp hold the top radiator hose all of a sudden it will get hot check your thermometer it should read about 192 thats where the thermostat is suppose to open. If the car is getting to hot because the thermostat did not open replace it. It fully opens at 222 your fan should be running if not your sensor is bad. Don't have your air cont on or fan will run all the time. The other problem make sure the power steering is full check your owners manual mine takes ATF+4 then have some one turn the wheel with inflated tires and see if the belt is slipping change belt if it is and make sure there is no oil on pulleys. Clean them with brake clean or alcohol

Just before or when this happens, take the filter cover off the ceiling assembly, and have a flashlight ready. Look up into the evaporator coils and fins at the opening for return air being drawn up/in and see if you see frost on the fins. Be sure to look right down to bottom, and let me know if there is frost. I'm thinking there may be a problem with the sensor positioning for the frost, or you may even have an obstruction on the forced side of the duct work if it is the ducted system. If it is the ducted system, be sure you don't close too many of them, if you are closing any of them, and take it off quick cool if your using that as well. ( quick cool is where you open louver to blow straight down from ceiling assembly )
let me know what you find. Mike

My radio has water damage and does not work at all. Is it fixable?

Hello
Replace the time memory battery from it first. Open the set, and wipe all the water out by a spnge of cloth. Left it for about 2 hours or so opened under a ceiling fan at moderate speed. After that, blow hot air, with a hair dryer with moderate heat; so that the traces of water left will evoporate. Do this process two or more times, because there will be water in between and under the terminals of ICs. It is best to turn it ON after two days it left opened. OK.
