Hi All I got eMachines laptop D620 It got Athlon proc at 1.6Ghz with 1Gb of ram and there is ATI x1200 graphic card inside. I removed pre-installed Vista and installed Win XP sp3 (I have MSDN licence). Everything works smoothly except video - I can't watch any movied in Divx or Xvid - last one don't start to show output and with Divx there is a gap between video and sound and video is slowed down. I tried different players including VLC, Divx player, media player classic and Subedit - all behave the same. I installed latest drivers for graphic card and re-installed directx and codecs as well - no joy. As far I remember under Vista it was working fine (I'm not my primary pc to use on daily bases). Any one have any idea what to do ???? Tom
Could be a codec problem
Use these two, one for video and one for audio and see if you have the same problems, these are the best codecs, don't use those all in 1 packs as they are generally out of date of full of ****.

as for the USB thing, try formatting to NTFS and see if it still takes a long time. But first you need to change a setting - Goto Device Manager, under View select Show Hidden Devices, Expand Disk Drives, right click the entry for your USB drive and select Properties, under the Policies tab select Optimize for Performance, OK and reformat the usb drive to NTFS

I tried that one before
I installed and re-installed codec's
I just noticed something else - when I play video on any player cpu utilization is on 100% all the time - when I close window with move it goes back to almost 0%.
In he same time in safe mode when I played movie using VLC usage was on 20-40% only.
I have feeling that problem is somewhere else - when I tried to copy 700 Mb file on pen drive it show me info that it will take up to 120 minutes.
In the same time the same pen drive is extremly fast on my dell laptop .
To answer a question - it it USB 2.0 - drivers are installed on eMachines and it don't pop up with info that "this device might work faster" as normally if You connect usb 2.0 pen drive to old usb's.
