Clif,
Almost all dryers have thermal protection in redundancy to prevent fires. This includes a thermostat, thermal fuse, and high limit switches, normally in the back of the dryer. Gas or electric. If any of these fail you wont run. But, if it is an electric dryer, you MUST have 220VAC at the outlet. 110VAC to ground on each leg dont cut it. if your qualified, measure between the two legs for 220.

The control panel will not work, no lights on panel.

First make sure you house fuse or breaker didn't trip. If you have power to the dryer house outlet, next check the connections where the big 220 volt power cord goes into the dryer. Should be a small access cover you can take off to look at the power cord connections. Sometimes when they are first installed they are not put on tight. Over time they over heat and burn at the connectors. If either side is burned that may be your problem. If all connectors are good, you could have 2 possible circuit boards bad. 1 would be the display board itself (the one with the touch screen) or the main PCB board under the control panel in a tan looking cover box.

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you

Check Power
Check the outlet by plugging an appliance into the same outlet the washer was plugged into an running the appliance a hair dryer works good for this it will draw some amperage. If it works fine move on.

Control
To check the control remove the top panel and then remove the console to access the wiring to the control. Find the wire feeding the control from the main power cord. If you cannot visually see this refer to the tech sheet or service manual. Connect voltmeter to the 2 wires feeding the control if it is recieving power and it does not respond replace the control board.

MY LG DLE5977 Electric Dryer will not power on

Check the junction connection behind the dryer where the power cord and terminal block to make sure that the screws are tight.  Then use a volt meter to check for voltage.  The 2 outside wires should be hot leads and the center is neutral.  Check hot to hot and you should get 240 volts.  Check hot to neutral and you should get 120 volts.  If you get those voltage readings, then you have a control board malfunction and needs to be replaced.  There is no reset switch within the dryer for the control board.

No nothing! -Kenmore HE3 DRYER # 82826

Unfortunately, the Main Control Board generally is the culprit that kills the entire dryer on these models. The tech sheet you discovered should also give you the test points to check the control panel too. However, if the Main Control Board is bad, it will do you no good to try to trace voltage if it's not there. In addition, the connector pins are so small it makes it rather difficult to even try to get good resistance readings. Now...to rule out other possibilities: THERMAL FUSE - Would kill all dryer functions, but I believe the control panel would still work and the interior drum light would come on. THERMAL CUT-OUT - Would only kill the HEATING portion of the dryer. The drum would still rotate, but the unit would not heat. DOOR SWITCH - Control panel would still function, but dryer would not start and drum would not rotate. BELT SWITCH - This will shut down a dryer if yours is equipped with one. I don't believe this model has such a switch, but even if it did, the dryer would not start, but the control panel would still light up. So...other than double checking all your wiring to make sure you don't have anything broken or loose, you have probably narrowed it down to the most likely cause. You still might have a defective interface panel, but they don't fail as often and are more expensive. Generally, the whole panel has to be replaced. I hope this guides you in the right direction. If you need further assistance, post comments.

Dryer will not start

slats Does display shows anything? Does any indicator light on the control panel lights up? When you open the door did you see the light comes on? If nothing happens, there is a problem with the power source from the outlet or the power cord not connected properly (possible burned out wires) to the dryer. If you see the light inside the dryer, then the problem is a bad control board. Let me know and do not place a new question. Just put a comment and I'll get e-mail notification. Gendos...post back
