Question about Dryers
Yes the motor would still hum. Check to make sure you have power to your plug. If so then there might be a blown fuse in the dryer.

I hae to say it, but it sounds like the motor has already gone out. That loud humming noise is usually the start windings going out. There is no other way easily to tell if the motor is out, but taking the belt off and saying it doesnt look broke what work in this situation. I would imagine that you have a DOTT (Dryer Of Tommorrow, Today) dryer, because you said it had the front panel. The motor part number is 279787 if this the case.
