Thanks a lot for all your advices.... i checked the Even log.. where i saw the WMI application is stored as error. How to over come this?

Check the Event Log, especially the System log looking for any error and warning messages. They should direct you to the driver or service that is causing the system to hang. If that doesn't work, use MSConfig to enable Boot Logging and restart the computer in normal mode again. After the system hangs, restart in Safe Mode to review the log that was created during the boot process. It should indicate what it was trying to load/start at tht e time the computer stopped responding again.

Since the machine would boot in Safe Mode, you could have changed msconfig settings to give you nearly the same environment; that is, disable everything possible in msconfig. Rebooting normally would have given you slightly more functionality thatn Safe Mode, but not much. Then you should have re-enabled items in msconfig one-by-one until it failed to start again. The last item re-enabled would have been your problem child. So, you would disable that item again and continue with any remaining items. Or you could have rolled the system back to a previous checkpoint using System Restore (if it was enabled).

Now, did you reinstall Vista or did you attempt to Repair the existing installation? And what do you mean by "the horizontal tab which loads the OS?"

Hi,

U are facing the problem because may be your OS is not able to load all the drivers needed for the normal mode.

Don't install your OS from the where u r installing till now. Use some other DVDs or IMages to Install the OS. If it works fien than u can ask for a change because it seems that the image u r using is corrupt.

This won't be the best solution for you perhaps because I'm not a windows guy, but download the gparted (just google for gparted) cd image, burn it to disk and boot it up. Use that to partition and format the drive.

You may need to check to see which "service pack" you are currently on.

See below requirements:

System Software — Windows XP & Vista
  • Windows Vista Business or Ultimate Edition
    • 32-bit OS Installation Only
  • Windows XP Professional or Home Edition
    • With Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Service Pack 3

  • Not Supported:
    • Windows Vista 64-bit (any version)
    • Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
    • Windows XP Media Center Edition
    • Windows 98, Me, 2000, NT, 95, 3.1, DOS

  • Not Tested:
    • Windows Vista Home and Home Premium Edition
    • Although Windows Vista Home and Home Premium Edition have not been tested or qualified by Digidesign, there are currently no known issues with Vista Home and Home Premium 32-bit operating systems and Pro Tools M-Powered 7.4 compared to the supported Windows Vista Business or Ultimate Edition operating systems.

Windows Vista SP1
There are currently no known issues with Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista based on our initial limited testing and customer feedback. Although full qualification with all Digidesign products has not been completed, we do not recommend against updating to SP1, given the number of important overall system fixes in SP1. We do recommend that you backup your system and create a restore point before updating to SP1, should you encounter any problems after installing the update.

I just bought a new Dell running 64-bit Vista Home Premium. My problem is, when trying to install my printer, it says the drivers are not compatible with the 64-bit operationg system. The Dell website has...

Contact the Printers Manf. or go to its web site for drivers.
If that fails, you may want to daul boot with a 32bit system.
Also, you may want to Gogle the printer for a 64bit driver.

My m2n32-sli premium vista edition motherboard refuses to boot up when i put 6 gbs of memory. How do i solve this issue?

Hi iimarceloii, did you check the FAQ section on Asus web site?
Using Vista 32bit/64bit edition or win XP;
http://support.asus.com/faq/faq.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=M2N32-SLI%20Premium%20VISTA%20Edition&os=24
Basically Asus wants you to use 2GB of memory until windows has been completely installed & completely updated before you can add more memory to the system.
Than you can increase your memory to 6BG. To see all the FAQ's from Asus, click on this link; http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
Type: M2N32-SLI into the search window & click the arrow button.

Good luck iimarceloii!
