Universal remote code lost

Hi, My daughter has a magnavox tv that we had to buy a universal remote for. The one we picked up at walmart was a rca (pretty simple one). Now her friend took the batteries out and we cannot relocate the manual to re program the code. I have looked on line and got alot of suggestions but they all need a set button on the remote, and I dont have one. Is there any way you could help me with the code cause god forbid my daughter get out of bed to change the channel or turn it off.
