My ps2 slim only works when hold the power lead at an angle.

Yes of course, thats what tops the ps3 i believe, go to game, memory card utility (ps/ps2), create new internal memory card, choose ps2, name it, ok, then put in ps2 game and it will act like a ps2! Regards

If this was towards the front of the console and was attached to a silver ribbon cable this is likely to be the power/eject control board.

i was having a similar problem with a brand new v.2.2 gameshark(blue bottom).
Then i decided to stand m system vertically instead of horizontally and it's been working fine since i put it vertically.

I also try to reset your ps2 with the gs2 disk still in the tray a couple of times and see what happens.....

and does all of your GS2 disk got scratches?

and by the ways, many ps2 version, like version 4 with the R after or version 5 and up will need GS2 version 1.9A / 1.9B / 1.9C / 1.9D or 2.0 and above to be booting with those ps2 version....

but i know GS2 version 2.1 will work with every new ps2 version.....

i have encountered these problem with my slim ps2 many times before... the solution for your problem is very easy...... 


when you insert your disk in your slim ps2 you must hear atleast three quick click sounds, theis sounds represents the cd has been locked in into the driver, to be able to check if it has already locked touch the top part of the cd pertaining to the center part once youve touched it feel if there is no unbalanced portion... if no your ready to play...... if yes reinsert it until you hit the right angle..... these takes a lot of practice just to do it safe for the console and the person..... enjoy...................

use a q-tip and rubbing alcohol to clean the lens.if you don't have a slim ps2 that will involve opening the ps2.it's not that hard really,works every time.

buy a new power lead

this is a common problem with the origional realease of the ps2 the fat models, not the slim (but can happen in slims) it is either a lens adjustment problem or lens needs to be cleaned, google adjusting ps2 laser lens and you will find the solution, (this does involve taking the case apart so if it is under warrenty that is the way to go)

I think the motor spindle is damaged , as the motor spindle holds the disc up or it could the lens assembly being misaligned which causes the lens to be angled and scratch the disc

every time when i put in the playstation2 it would work well act like it is going to play put it goes to the thing that say browser and somrthing

usually, there is a problem with a ribbon cable of power/reset switch. Try using a replacement ribbon of the same type.
