Question about HP LaserJet 4 Plus C2037A Laser Printer 10MB PC 162732
Ah, the joys of keeping old laser printers working.
Error 51 rings a bell for me - that\'s a beam detect error. Could be a faulty board or more likely given the unit\'s age the optics are dirty. You might want to try Google for a maintenance manual \'cause from here on we\'re working on my memory.
The laser scanner is under the top panel secured with screws at the front and clips at the back (the clips are a bugger be careful not to break them). Clean the optics with a lint-free cotton bud and isopropil alcohol if you have it.You may need to remove the laser assembly to do this - I can\'t remember if you can do it in place.
If that doesn\'t bring it back then its a board fault and unless you have a donor printer to scavenge parts from, I\'d say its beyond repair.
