You will need to contact Phillips about this. If yo are not tech savvy do not attempt to take the TV apart. You should call Phillips support to find out what your next steps should be. It sounds like one of )or all) of the plasma bulbs may have popped which means your picture will not show anymore unless you get them replaced.

I want to leave it into a local repair shop but am weary of being ripped off so was hoping to go in and tell him what it was so he could think im not a total idiot...... just a thought none of the led's on the front of the tv come on when i turn the power on is that still the plasma bulbs that cause that ?

I have a philips 42pf9946/12, it made a crack noise then went off and now it wont switch on at all

If your LED's also do not turn on then most likely it is not the bulbs. This sounds more like the power supply may have had a capacitor explode and you no longer can get power to the television. This would be cheaper than having to replace the bulbs. I would have them check the power supply first.

My phillips external hard drive became disconnected and I can not get it to start up

Hello,

Open the external hard drive cover, remove the hard disk inside, and fix it back. Try again and let's see what happens.

If it still does not work, insert the external drive into the computer, feel the hard drive if it spins/vibrate from inside or if it makes a cracking noise.

If it spins/vibrate, it means the hard disk is still working. In that case, you have to get another external drive case/cover.

But if it makes cracking noise, then it means the hard drive is damaged and you need to get another one.

I wish you all the best.

Buzzing noise every 5 to 10 minutes, like an ice machine turning

No ,very possible it is due to expansion. There is a covering on the return pipe called armour flex. this armourflex stops ice migration inside the walls of the fridge. If it breaks away, the ice expands around the pipe and and pushes on the insulation foam which then cracks and makes those loud noises. Have heard this noise many times on a particular brand of fridge to a point where some customers have dived for the floor thinking they are being shot at. Repairing that problem is a biggish repair and not cheap. You will find if it is the compressor it normally only happens at either start up or switch off (a clattering sound)

Whining noise sounds like the power supply in the TV ... not putting out the voltage it needs to project the image.... might have to consult with your TV repair

I have a protron 37 inch lcd that made a small popping noise and went off. It will not turn back on. I have only used this thing for 8 months. Any ideas?

a transistor overheating and cracking in the switch mode power supply can do that,or a high voltage component failure.
open it up and look and see if anything is burnt.

My dvd player is making a loud humming sound when i load up a dvd. it is the phillips dvp5960

Does the DVD player still work, even though it's making the humming noise?
The humming noise may just be normal for that machine. Turn your TV up louder .
If the player doesn't work, the drive is broken, and you would have to send it to Phillips if your warranty is still working. If the Player still works, check to see if the disc is warped or cracked, this'll make the drive unstable, and make the noise.

Hope my answer helped :)

Took the lint screen out and forgot to put it back in and a kneehigh went in the vent and made a noise. Is there any way to get it out without repairman. I cannot see the nylon and the machine is stacked...

This being stacked makes things a lot more of a pain. Disconnect power.
  • Remove three phillips head screw at the back side of the dryer top
  • Slide top back about an inch or so and lift off
  • Remove two phillips head screws at 5 and 7 O'clock position on dryer bulkhead just behind dryer door.
  • Remove two phillips head screws on top front edge of dryer
  • Tilt dryer front forward at top and unplug door switch at top of door and light socket at top left.
  • Lift off dryer front, holding until you can unplug the moisture sensor wire at the bottom, then set aside.
  • Remove the four phillips head screws at the sides of the dryer holding the front drum support assembly.
  • Lift up assembly and pull toward you to remove.
  • You now have access to the blower.
  • Front of blower can be removed. (1/4 hex screws)
