Has the CM3 controller been changed out? If so and it is the Universal service controller look on back to make sure the model- program selection switch on the side has been set to correct number.if so then unplug unit then plug back in push freeze tab let run and check all the refrigeration components. we know it is not a water problem or the water light would be lite up. If when you push freeze tab and nothing comes on and the water sump tray is full of water then replace Service controller.

Noise from condenser fan. I cleaned the blade and the surronding area. Put some w-d 40 but the noise is still there. It is cold. Should I replace the motor? how hard is it to do? kenmore coldspot...

Go to www.searspartsdirect.com enter your model number and select model number search.

Here you can see a diagram of the unit. The fan motor cost 95 dollars.

It depends on the type of noise it is making.

These motors when failing tend to hum when trying to start which is a sign of a dry bearing.

Rattling sounds or ting ting ting sounds are either a lose fan blade (check the cheap retaining clip on the front of the shaft .. it may have wiggled forward causing the blade to wobble) or a lose mounting screw.

Also I can't tell from the diagram how close the fan is to the drip tray(tray evaporator) These fans not only aid in removing heat from the condenser.. they help evaporate the water in the drip tray.

If you remove the motor.. have it tested before replacing it. At a hundred bucks it's worth a trip to a good electric motor shop. They generally will test it for free.

If you are able to determine the voltage and hook it up out of the cabinet you may save yourself a trip.

Chances are it's a lose mounting screw or that front blade retaining clip.

Best of luck!

The divider wall between the fridge and freezer stays very hot to the touch. Possibly the defrost mechanism is stuck??? Any ideas?

Check the fan which cools the compressor . Sometimes something gets caught in the blade . Also check that the coils at the front bottom are clean . If the motor is not turning and nothing obstructing the fan blade , replace the motor ( condensor motor )

Not Cole -- fan inside are blowing room temperature air

If after freeing the fan blade it still will not turn, you have a bad fan motor. (almost certainly due to it being restricted.)

That will cetrtainly cause it not to cool properly.

If the fan will not turn after freeing it, it will need to be replaced. If it does turn properly, unplug the fridge for about an hour to let the compressor cool down. Make sure all the coils vents etc are free of dust and dirt. Plug it back in, and if the fan is still operating properly, you should be back down to temp in a few hours max.

Light on in fridge but no compressor sound or clicks or fan

That dude is probably stuck in the defrost mode.
OK try this:
1. Unplug refrigerator
2. Turn Cold Control to “off (Compressor is off)
3. Plug in refrigerator
The defrost cycle has now been initiated. The DTT has a bypass/test point for diagnosis. To terminate defrost manually:
1. Unplug the refrigerator
2. Turn the cold control “on” (Compressor is on)
3. Plug in the refrigerator
The defrost cycle is terminated and refrigeration cycle resumes.
Replace the dang adaptive defrost if you cannot get any response.

Avanti compact Refrigerator NOT COOLING

I had this same problem. I did some troubleshooting and figured out that the fan was being bogged down by ice. It wouldn't spin because the ice was so heavy. I turned the power off completely and let the ice melt. Once the ice was removed from the fan, the fridge began working again!
