I have 115 v at the bulb receptacle but the bulb doesn't light up...whats the problem its a rab ff150 hps fixture

Does the bulb work in a different fixture? Sometimes the base of the bulb does not make contact with the terminal inside the fixture. unplug the fixture and then see if you can bend the center "not" connector up a little.

What is a sodium vapor lamp?

There are two types of sodium vapor lamps, the low pressure sodium and the high pressure sodium. Both types are very efficient, in fact they are the most efficient bulbs made today. The sodium vapor cost around 80$ the bulb and the ballast and a spare bulb will cost you around 30 dollars.

Having in mind that a generic lamp will give you 4500 to 6500 lamp hours and the Phillips will give you 6000 to 8000 lamp hours and that you TV is 4 years old more likely you are looking to replace you lamp; The lamp itself typically uses AC current and about 15,000 volts to ignite the lamp's mercury vapor gas. The gases inside the lamp react when electricity charges up the mercury gas creating very bright light. The voltage drops to keep the flow of electricity to the lamp.
If you can hear your TV fan working is NOT you power supply, but if you hear a constant clicking you BALLAST needs to be replace,
A ballast is an electrical component used with a fluorescent bulb (or mercury vapor lamp or arc lamp) to conduct electricity at each end of the tube. It supplies the initial electricity to the bulb that creates light, and then it regulates the amount of electricity flowing through the bulb so that it emits the right amount of light.

Sodium security blinks on and off all night , has replace bulb and works for about a year. then the blinking starts back

is there another light in the vacinity or is the light in question itself pointed at the photocell. most likely scenarios are that the light is pointing at its own photocell so when it is off the photosell senses dark and turns it on but then when light comes on tricks photocell into thinking it is daylight, check position of photocell and adjust away from light source if problem persist could be ballast going bad

Security light goes off and on

if it is a gas bulb (mercury vapor, metal halide, or high pressure sodium) the bulb needs to be replaced. they "cycle" when they go bad for a few weeks then completely stop working

CAN YOU TELL ME ALL THE COMPOMNENTS ON A COOPER 200W HPS 120V. LAMP COBRA HEAD STREET LIGHT. I JUST PERCHASED THIS LIGHT AND I'M HAVING PROPLEMS GETTING IT TO WORK

200 watt  High Preasure Sodium 120 volt Attach the 120 volts to the lamp and turn it on,or cover the light sensor if it is an automatic on light.  Their is really not much to them. A ballast (transformer) and photo electric eye to turn them  off and on and the bulb. If covering the sensor doesn't make it operate then it is  most likly a bad bulb.  When starting these HPS light, thetyy take approximately five minutes to come to full brightness.    Hope this helps.
