Good Afternoon maricris, thank you for your inquiry!

If your door is in the locked position, first reset the power to the unit for about one minute. Can you open the door? If so, the main control board may need replacing. If you cannot open the door, then the door switch assembly may need to be replaced. This is not a typical DIY job. I would recommend reaching out to an experienced appliance tech just to ensure no troubleshooting step has been missed. Parts are often costly and if the problem is precisely diagnosed, it can save you a lot of time and funds. I hope these troubleshooting tips help you in some small way.

SOURCE: We have a frigidaire front

The first thing to check is your water supply lines and make sure there is no sediment build up.You may need to replace the main control board, also check to make sure the drain pump is not block or restricted.
make sure you have the proper voltage to the machine.

Have a broken door switch. will that stop the dryer from heating?

A broken door switch does one of two things, either the machine will not start, or when you open the door the machine will not stop tumbling. Heating issues are caused by improper voltage, bad heating element, burned wires, faulty thermostats etc.

make sure push start switch is not stuck pushed in.Also sounds like the switch mounted on the motor could be stuck, which means new motor. Does motor start and stop with timer being moved to the off position ?.If so then not the motor.

Pye2200ay won start

Is the plastic locater lug on the door that makes contact with the switch... intact and making breaking the switch properly?
Also check the switch mechanism to see if it is functioning correctly
This could be your problem if you say everything works ok. when you part the wires of the switch.
you may need to replace one or the other or both if you can remove the door switch take it to a shop that sells parts and ask them to confirm it is working.
You could also ask if you could see a plastic lug off the door then you will know if that could be faulty also?
Best of luck!

After moving dryer to new apartment, worked at first but now won't turn on

Did you check the power source? You could have popped a breaker (or fuse) if the dryer circuit in the new apartment is inadequate. Might have been good for one shot, then no more.

Dryer won't start

Either one or 2 things happened. The move cause the lint to shift around inside the dryer and it overheated blowing the fuse. OR the new apartment's vent is blocked and caused the dryer to overheat. All maytag dryers are not the same but they all have a non resetable fuse mounted on the blower housing. When the temp exceeds 350f it melts and kills power to the motor. If the motor is not running the heat does not get power. The motor must be turning to make the cent switch power up the heater. Dryer manuals

My Dryer won't stop drying until I open the door.

If it does this in a Timed Dry setting the timer is bad. If it does this in an Auto dry setting it could be a bad moisture sensor or a bad timer.

#1 Unplug the dryer
#2 Use a putty blade under the corners of the Console and flip it back
#3 Remove 3 screws along back of top that were under the console (Might just be 2)
#4 Slide the top forward and remove
You will now have full access to the switch. Disconnect the harness and replace the switch.
#5 Reverse the above proceedure to replace the top

Good Luck,

Buzzer won't go off when dryer is stopped - All else works fine - must leave door open

Fiddled around with the start button. It had gotten stuck in the on position and when I moved it around it freed up. I consider this a temporary fix only and have already ordered a replacement switch.
