WPS is not a security feature, it just makes set-up easier. It works with devices that have a push button connect feature. Not all devices have that, but all devices can be added manually.

Your iPad can be logged into the router's wireless network, probably WPA or WPA2 (more secure) by using the iPad's on-board network tool.

First: (if this is not already done) Log into your router software. Locate your Wireless Network Set-up page & give your wireless network a unique name, like "Molly McGee" or some such, so you can identify yours from the neighbors.
Set up a shared password in the wireless network panel. Save this information for your household. Write it all down so you can use it to add new devices later.
Also note what type of Security scheme you are setting up (WPA, WPA2 personal etc- some devices ask for this info)

When the Wireless network is configured: On your iPad, go to Settings> Wi-Fi, Choose your network, this should open a panel so you can enter the shared password. Enter it and you should be good to go.

If you live in a very insecure place such as an apartment complex or over a retail space etc, you can choose to make your network invisible to outsiders. If you do this, you will have to ask to join the network each time you disconnect from it. You can easily locate and join it with the specific network name and security info- but creepers won't see your network and try to get in.

Both sides of the connection need to be set up for WPS. A pin has to be set up.
I recommend using WEP until you figure out WPS.

To adapt N300 Wireless Adapter, I need to press the WPS button on wireless router or gateway. Unable to locate WPS button.

The reason you may wish to press a WPS button is to connect to a WiFi network. The WPS button will be on the router, not on your computer. If no WPS button on the router you will need to enter the WEP/WPA password to connect to the router.

Machine does not appear to have WPS button, where is it.

Some wireless routers will have a WPS button. Printers do not have one. As you set up a printer to connect to your wireless network, you press the WPS button on the router when prompted by the setup program.

If your router has a WPS button, it will usually be on the back of the router. However, on the Netgeat WNR3500-100NAS, the button is on the bottom front of the router. If your router doesn't have a WPS button, log into the router's administrator page. (In your browser, type in http:// + the I.P. address of your router. (It will often be .) Enter the administrator name and password. (admin is the common administrator account name). Then go to the Wi-fi page, there will be a way to start the WPS signal. (This assumes you are using a security protocol that is compatible with the WPS setting. WPA/WPA2 are compatible; WEP isn't (if I recall correctly).) Most router manufacturers have a default administrator password. I strongly recommend changing from the default passwords; they are available in any manual.
The alternative is to type in the name of your wireless network and its security password during the printer setup.
Please add a comment with your specific router make and model. I will be glad to tell you where on the unit a WPS button is, if one is present. I can also give you information on the default administrator account and password.

I dont have a wps button on my samsung gallacy s

It's not going to be on the phone. It is on the router you're trying to connect to. Look on top or side of the router for a button that will say WPS. Click it and you should be able to connect to the router. There is a small time frame in which to make the connection though. For simplicity, if that doesn't work, I would say to set the router to WEP and connect without the hassle of WPS. It will be under wireless security settings in the router.

How do I know if my router (ATT 138NG) is WPS or non-WPS

Check the wireless settings for WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryption (passphrase) settings. If these are not available then it is not a secure wireless router.
