Try this, take out the drum and check if there is any scratch on it. If it is then change drum.
The other problem can be dump in the scanner unit when u place a paper to copy, try to check it.

You may need to change your drum unit. The replacement part number is DR400

To replace the drum unit follow the instructions listed below:

Do NOT use flammable substances or any type of spray to clean the inside or outside of the machine. Doing this may cause a fire or electrical shock.
spray.gif Caution
Just after you have used the FAX/MFC, some internal parts of the machine are extremely HOT! When you open the top cover of the FAX/MFC, never touch the shaded parts as shown in the diagram below:
  1. Open the front cover.
  2. Remove the old drum unit. Place the drum unit on a drop cloth or large piece of disposable paper to avoid spilling and scattering the toner.
  1. Remove the toner cartridge by holding down the lock lever on the right and pull the toner cartridge out of the drum unit assembly.
  1. Wait to unpack the new drum unit until immediately before installing it. Place the old drum unit into the aluminium bag.
  2. Reinstall the toner cartridge into the new drum unit.
  3. Reinstall the new drum unit, keeping the front cover open.
  4. Press the Clear key to display drum status.
  5. Press 1 on the telephone keypad.
  1. When the display shows "ACCEPTED", close the front cover.
Discard it according to local regulations. If you are not sure of them, call your local Sanitation Department. Be sure to seal the drum unit tightly so toner powder does not spill out of the unit. When discarding used drum units, keep them separate from domestic garbage.

My 4100 has had the drum and toner installed new, when i copy or recieve a fax it blank/very faint. can you help?

When you remove the toner and drum unit out of the machine look inside where it was, look up inside that spot where the drum was and you will see a glass window that is about 3/8 of an inch deep and maybe 8 to 9 inches long, it is likely a film of toner is on that glass blocking the laser light from hitting the drum properly. Just use a dry lint free cloth and wipe that glass down and you should be good to go. Remember look up in the spot where the toner was it can be easy to miss it.

Error 7C

There's no manual for "machine error 7C" in Bro IntelliFax 4100. To fix this issue. You will need to pull out the toner. Note: the toner and drum are connected.....At the left corner of the drum. You will see a blue tab......You will need to slide the blue tab back and forth for 20th times....And put the toner back in its place.....This is just a temp fix but you need to replace the drum to have it working its fullest......

Clear vertical lines when printing that do not clear up by shaking toner

does it do it on copies and internal test as well???
1- check the thin strip of glass inside the machine and make sure it is clean, look at the toner are there any line on there that corresponds?? yes then could be coming from the drum or toner. I beleive the drum is a seperate piece from the toner

Intellifax 4100 grinding noice

Probably caused by the toner cart. Only use genuine new Brother brand supplies. Remans fail quite often with Brother machines.
Possibly bad gears on fuser drive. But with the poor print quality, I suspect it is the toner.

Dark toner streaks

can only be toner, drum or fuser, pull out drum and look at surface are you streaks present? usually drum.

Stop a print half way threw machine and then remove drum and look at print, pre hot bit (fuser) are you marks there? If so it is drum, if not fuser.
