Your ipods hard drive or video controller maybe failing. If the ipod has not been dropped or hasn't sustained any impact, I would verify whether its warranty is still active..by looking for the serial number on the back of the ipod and entering it on the bottom page of this link...
If under warranty with no signs of damage or user fault, you should get a replacement a repair in less than a week.
