Question about Samsung ML-2510 Laser Printer
From 2 websites describing my problem:
I'm posting this as much as a ''problem record'' as to solicit help. At this
point, I'm just about ready to give up, but if there's a simple and obvious
solution, I may try it.
About a week or so ago, my Samsung ML-2510 laser printer stopped working. It
just wouldn't print. The little red light beneath the ! (exclamation point) triangle blinked
continuously. When I opened it up, it whirred for a while, but the light went
back to blinking, and it still wouldn't print.
I went to the Help pages and it suggested a number of things---doors unclosed,
paper jams, maybe a few other things. I checked all these, and I couldn't see
anything wrong. I decided it must be that the cartridge was out of ink. (Trial
and error with other printers has proved this to often be the problem).
So, I gathered up some old cartridges to recycle, including the one supposedly
out of ink, went down to Staples and bought one---which came to $100+.
When I got home, I took out the cartridge, popped it in, which brought up the
solid green light beneath the <...> symbol. I then tried my first test print,
the printable version of a Wikipedia article. I chose the double-sided option,
because I don't like the waste of single-sided printouts.
After a somewhat long wait of maybe a minute or 2, it printed out the
even-numbered pages, as it apparently should, with this duplex option. Problem
is, there's a page that's supposed to pop up right after this that instructs you
how to put in the even printed pages, and to press a button on the printer (I
think the screen is depicting the orange button on the printer with a downward
pointing triangle in a circle). But this not ONLY didn't come up, for some odd
reason, the Wikipedia page spontaneously went back to the previous page it was
on before I brought it, Yahoo Mail.
Further, after it printed out the even pages (1/2 the duplex print job), IT
STARTED BLINKING RED AGAIN!
I've closed all the doors, examined it for paper jams, found none, have taken
out and re-inserted the cartridge which seems to have gone in with a perfect
''click''. I can't find a thing wrong.
I cannot get back to the solid green light. This really bothers me, because I
just installed a brand new $100 cartridge in it!
I've gone to the website and tried to find the troubleshooting pages, but
somehow I ''took a wrong turn'' and wasn't able to locate it. Maybe I'll try
again, but I don't know what more it could tell me I haven't already read.
Has anybody had a similar problem with a Samsung? Maybe it's not me this time,
but the printer. Any quick and easy tips out of this would be appreciated.

REPLY FROM FORUM MEMBER: Sometimes the printer thinks there's a print jam when there isn't.
If that's the case press any cancel button on the printer,
you turn the printer off and on again,
and go to the Start button, go to Printers and Faxes, and double click on
the printer icon of the one you're using and click the listed print jobs and click
from the menu ''Cancel'' (it might call it delete print job or something).
FURTHER REPLY FROM JAMES N. DAWSON
I did go into my print job pages, and the qeue said ''0 print jobs''.
Turning the printer off and on again stopped the blinking red light and returned
it to green, unfreezing it and making it able to print again.
Problem is, trying to use the double-sided printing option seems to trigger the
same problem, requiring the above steps to get out of it. Only the single-sided
print option will work. This disappoints me, but at this point, I'm resigned to
living with it.
It seems like your duplex is giving you the paper jam issue.
you may try going to the back of the printer underneath the back door you will be able to locate a tray. that's the duplex. pull out the tray and check is there any paper jam. if not it is most likily that your duplex roller has worn out. (Time to replace the duplex) or you may try to use an eraser to rub the roller put it back and see it helps.
hope this help :)
