The belt starts and then quickly stops

Are you referring to the serpentine belt under the hood? What year, make and model of vehicle? Are you sure the battery is charged and the starter motor is working properly?

Start with the simple things, such as checking the battery voltage and using a large breaker bar with a socket to fit the crankshaft pulley to see if the engine will spin by hand.

On several Dodge and Chrysler products it's somewhat common for the A/C compressor field coil to seize with the compressor clutch and for the compressor itself to seize up causing what you describe.

If you remove the belt, then try to start the engine and it spins over freely, the issue is likely that something is seized.

Blower won't run

usually a "humming motor" indicates either a bad capacitor or a defective motor. With the power off try to spin the blower wheel...it should spin freely. If it is tight or wont spin and there are no obstructions stopping it (like an air filter sucked into blower or other debris) then the motor most likely is seized. If the blower wheel spins free then you may have a bad capacitor. Keep in mind, just because the blower spins easy doesn't mean the motor is good. I have had motors that are defective that dont seize up but most of the time the blower wheel will not spin free if the motor fails.

Hi just read your posting. Now Error Code 136 is called Motor Stall. This means the Motor Controller was unable to start the rotation of the motor. The possible causes of this fault are : Faulty wiring to the motor, faulty or jammed motor, seized bearings or seals, faulty control module, faulty rotor sensor.or wiring to the sensor. Now has your machine been noisy on spin?Could you please confirm the model number of your machine.Has your machine been leaking?Does the machine get a lot of work? Please reply with additional information on the questions and I am sure I can help you track the fault down.Looking forward to your reply.

Clothes dryer will not start

sounds as if your motor has tightened-up or seized from heat and age bearing failure which it would cause excessive current draw at start-up if you can access the motor unplug unit then remove belt and spin motor pulley is should turn freely and coast to a stop if it seems tight the bearings are dried out

Fan stops

The cooling fan for the condenser is probably running, getting hot and seizing up. Check to see if the fan is free spinning after it stops. Take a probe and try to spin it manually. If it turns freely, then it could be going bad with it's electrical windings, the internal coils that create the magnetic field that spins the rotor of the fan motor. I suspect it is seizing up, however, once a fan seizes up, it usually stays that way and won't spin even after it cools down. It could be a capacitor that is going bad and not starting the fan after it gets hot. A capacitor is a small round shaped can type with usually 2 wires hooked in series with the motor it is trying to start. That is what it does, help start the device (compressor or fan motor). Good luck.Ken from Henderson NV.

Kenmore spin cycle issues

Does it agitate and spin at the same time? the motor has a pump on one side and gear case on the other. if the gear case is seizing then the pump is lagging because the motor is loaded from a seizing gearcase and the gear case needs to be replaced.

Washer won't spin

Check the belt to make it has not snapped or is tangled. There may also be some kind of visible obstruction in the way.

Also check: the motor coupler may be broken. Many washers use a small, relatively inexpensive motor coupling. It's plastic and rubber and is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other. Over time, the coupler wears out and fails. You may need to replace it.

If it seems that washer tub doesn't spin freely it may be seized and expensive to fix this would need to be checked by a repair technician.

It is possible also that the transmission is worn if the tub starts to spin and then stops. This is also a repair technician job and could be expensive for a old machine that parts are hard to come by.

REMEMBER to unplug the washer before working on it to avoid injury.
