SOURCE: blue screen of death

Not exactly sure, but it seems that you should uninstall and reinstall you sound drivers. They may have become corrupt or it may point to hardware failure.

SOURCE: blue screen when trying to install o/s from cd.

Not a lot of help here, other than to suggest it's caused by some hardware or driver conflict, but see this ms article. You could try then, this link to stop error codes, and these MS links here and here
I suggest you google "0X0000007E + pci.sys" and read the forums to see if someone out there has a solution...

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.

SOURCE: Blue Screen with error 0x000000ED

This behavior can occur if either of the following conditions is true:

  • Your computer uses an Ultra Direct Memory Access (UDMA) hard disk controller, and the following conditions are true:
    • You use a standard 40-wire connector cable to connect the UDMA drive to the controller instead of the required 80-wire, 40-pin cable.
    • The basic input/output system (BIOS) settings are configured to force the faster UDMA modes.
  • The file system is damaged and cannot be mounted.
The purpose of this error message is to prevent the following two things:
  • Potential data loss caused by using an incorrect IDE cable for the faster UDMA modes. An IDE cable is a kind of cable used to connect storage devices, such as hard disks, inside a computer.
  • Continued access to a drive on which the file system is damaged
Some things that you should know before you try this solution loadTOCNode(4, 'resolution');
  • If the file system is damaged, you can use chkdsk /r command to repair the volume. However, if you use the chkdsk /r command, you may lose some data.
  • You will need the Windows startup disks or the Windows installation disk. If you do not have them, contact the computer manufacturer for help in obtaining the disks.
  • You will need the administrator password to complete the steps.
To repair the volume, follow these steps:
  1. Start your computer by inserting the Windows startup disks or the Windows installation disk if your computer can start from the CD drive.
  2. When the Welcome to Setup screen appears, press R to select the repair option.
  3. If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot computer, select the Windows installation that you want to access from the Recovery Console.
  4. Type the administrator password when you are prompted to do this.

Note If no administrator password exists, press ENTER.
  5. At the command prompt, on the drive where Windows is installed, type chkdsk /r, and then press ENTER.
  6. At the command prompt, type exit, and then press ENTER to restart your computer.
  7. After you repair the volume, check your hardware to isolate the cause of the file system damage.
If this procedure does not work, repeat it, but type fixboot instead of chkdsk /r in step 5.

Note:
  • If your UDMA hard disk is connected to the controller with a 40-wire UDMA cable, replace the cable with an 80-wire cable.
  • In the BIOS settings for your computer, load the 'Fail-Safe' default settings, and then reactivate the most frequently used options, such as USB Support.

SOURCE: Can't start Windows, Blue Screen gets in the way.

can you press the function key that takes Windows to diagnostic mode - usually F8. You have to press this key very quickly after you power on.

This might help you understand where it is failing.
Hopefully you have a recovery CD with which to boot and test the hard drive for corruption.
You will need to setup the BIOS bootup sequence to go to CD first.

Those error codes don't really mean very much to the general consumer, but blue screens of deaths are caused by bad RAM memory in your computer, not viruses. I'm going to take a guess that your computer is either several years old and/or it constantly get quite warm? Heat can shorten the life of computer components by quite a bit. You may need to get one of your RAM cards replaced to solve this issue.

There's a free program called Memtest86 that you can run to determine if this is the case. It will scan all your memory and look for bad sectors. You can download it here: http://www.memtest86.com/ and burn it to a CD. What it does is create a bootable CD that will execute the program as the computer turns on to scan all the memory. There are full instructions on their website. The process can take an hour or two depending on how much memory your computer has, and if it turns up any bad sectors then you know what your problem is.

A computer can run with bad sectors in the memory, but it makes it unstable that it will keep bluescreening, so if you have bad sectors in your memory it might be better just to replace the RAM. Luckily, this isn't too expensive. For instance, if your computer has 4GB of memory, it probably has 2 2GB RAM cards installed. You can get a 2GB replacement notebook memory for, I'd say $30 or $40. Installing RAM is very simple, and if you're willing to install it yourself, it won't cost you more than that.

I keep getting this stop error after Windows loads?!

Seriously, contact Toshiba Tech Support. Give them the information you put up here. If you need to you can use a PC in the local library, or a friend's PC, to contact them. Or, just call them on the phone.

Have you tried going into Safe Mode?

    Blue Screen on Windows XP

Sometimes there are conflicts that cause errors to show up, I am glad you mentioned that no new hardware or software have been installed. That helps to rule out some things. At this juncture, if it only occurred once, reboot and don't worry. If you see it again, it will most likely tell you a error occurred at such and such a place and the computer will now shut down. If this happens try to write down the offending part or error and contact us again. However, it is always prudent to backup your computer. You can go in to the setup and look in you event log to see if it was a heat event that will cause your computer to shut down. Should this screen appears again, try the following:
Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the Stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Pay attention to the video adapters.
Check for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Start up Options, and then select Safe Mode.

    Tech Information:
    *** STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0xF85F9AD9, 0xF898B7A4, 0xF898B4
