Suddenly Bad Home AM Reception

Suddenly my home radio reception has gone bad and become unlistenable, with too much static. This is occurring on 3 radios and across the band. I had made no changes to the home wiring or any antenna(s).

Thanks, Steven Cyzner

SOURCE: No antenna, no radio reception

If the model number is SC-AK630, please confirm. The antenna should still be available from any Panasonic part distributor. Please confirm the model and I'll get you the part number and cost.

SOURCE: No antenna, no radio reception

I am in the same boat. I can play my favorite radio station and Pandora through my bluetooth connection on my iPad and iPhone. The reception is great.

Bad Radio reception in new 2009 Mazda3 Sport GS model

I would venture a guess that the antenna wire that plugs into the back of the radio is not seated properly. Did the dealer tech just listen to the radio or did he/she actually check the connections on the back of the unit? A faulty antenna connection would explain why it only happens with some stations and not others. Maybe the stations that are not being a problem are transmitting a more powerful signal or are closer in range than the ones that you are having trouble picking up clearly. Just a thought. Hope this helped and best wishes.

No AM radio reception in my 2002 Audi A4

do you get any stations, even weak stations on the AM band?  If not you have a bad radio and need replacement.  Try having someone hold the antenna as you scan the AM band.

FM RADIO Reception

No, it should work, although it will depend on how good your reception is. This depends on how strong the signal is where you are trying to receive. If you have tried scanning for channels and all you receive is static, it's possible your tuner is bad. Have you tried to tune it to a known good station manusally?

Bad reception

Sounds like you have an antenna problem. Find where the antenna plugs into the radio. Unplug it and find a nail or something the same diameter as the center pin wrap about 3-5 turns of a four foot piece of wire around the nail and plug the nail into the antenna input on the radio. If it clears up reception you have a bad or grounded antenna. Follow the antenna wire back to the windshield or fender etc. mounted antenna, sometimes there are other plug in points that get knocked loose.

Bad reception w/ Panasonic RF-544

I solved the problem, but I did not "fix" the problem. Rather than rig an antenna to the old Panasonic RF-544 radio, I put it upstairs where it has good reception. I put the new Sony ICF-38 downstairs where it brings in the stations I listen to. The advertsizing claim for the Sony ICF-38 is that it has "Good Sound and High Sensitivity." I believe it does have "high sensitivity" because even in the basement it brings in my desired stations. (I am still curious to know if I could have rigged an antenna to the old Panasonic RF-544.) Long wave car radio reception becomes unlistenable when engine running

Hi oldquincpie

If it is a problem that has just started, it is probably a bad earth on your antenna. If it is fender mounted, it may have dirt and rust under its base. Try loosening it off and cleaning under it with some emery tape. put it back together and try it. If you still have no luck, it may be that the antenna has a faulty internal connection. replacement may be necessary.
If the problem has always been there(since radio installed), you may need to do some radio interference suppression efforts to the car. Check the aerial first and see how you go. In the workshop, we have a spare aerial to plug into the back of the radio and temporarily earth it to the chassis somehow to check for an antenna fault.

SL100 static and bad FM reception

I have noticed various changes in my invehicle FM reception as well. There should be a external antenna that came with your car kit. This is precisely for these types of issues. It is designed to run along the windshield inside the car closest to the Cars radio antenna. It should plugin to the bottom of the cradle. Then tune it into a clean FM station (one that has no local station on it) and position the cradle and/or ext. antenna till you get the best reception in your vehicle. It could very well be that the antenna has come has loose on your car stereo backplane. You would probably notice decreased reception on regular AM/FM stations as well though.
Your wifi reception/functionality is a completely different animal and has no bearing on the FM transmitter in the car cradle. When your on wifi your not receiving signal from a sat. anymore just simply streaming internet audio like your computer.
Good luck.

Bad reception

I see you've already read the "Troubleshooting" section of the manual! The only other things I can think of to check would be the actual connection between the radio (aka head unit) and the antenna. It's usually just a press-fit connection behind the radio, but if it's loose, corroded, or is touching some other metal, it could affect the reception.
There's also the small possibility something changed at the transmitter tower for the radio station. That happened in my area once, where they changed the direction in which most of the signal power was being broadcast. Westside reception got better, eastside reception got worse.
