1999 toyota solara heater does not work

all cars, same (air cooled engines)
first the engine must reach and hold 180F or more.
if not?, you freeze.
then the fan most work'; dash blower, does it?
then both heater core hoses must be fully hot 180F. hand felt are they?
then the heater damper most open.
same here.

hello andn, is that a double post. ah but this time blow word is added. my previous post answers that,
step to is, does the engine coolant , reach 180F or more temperature
or more. and hold
use a IR pyro gun to test this
are as any pro does, puts hand on upper rad hose and had flies off it 180f, if not BINGO.
ill stop here, to see if yo bingo that.

Restating 2000 odyssey after warmed up

not sure what that means.
lets start over.
your saying car runs great, cold then hot.
then hard to restart a hot engine, right?
the light thing i dont understand
first off, when you stall and engine or just key ON.
the lamps all self test (read the operators guide there)
this is only a lamp test.
odd, the most important is skipped the CEL, check engine light.
is the engine stalling?
hot restarts, fails are: many.
  1. injector leaking at shut down.
  2. ECT reads to cold when hot. can be below caused
  3. Engine thermostat stuck open and restarts are over rich and floods. that hot engine must be at 180F or more,
  4. never did a 60,000 mile tuneup this decade?
  5. Fuel pressure too high.
i do tune ups first.
then check coolant temperatures, hot. 180F min, and holding or i kick the thermostat to the curb (new stat time)
if it sill dont want to hot start
out comes the scan tool
i scan it, got DTC errors.
is ECT reading 180F ? or above?

that is start on diagnosis.

No air coming from vents

good the blower works.
it takes 2 more things,
1: hot water, (engine coolant ) at 180F or more holding.
if not fix that first.
2: water flow , if both heater core hoses get hot 180F then the core is hot. and means,
3: no air flow through the core,
dampers failing, or controls. to them.

Heater in my car blows slightly worm air

no year stated. nor engine.
the engine must be 180F or more and hold
we use what is called a tool, called a thermometer,
we measure the engine heat first. at the thermostat housing
180F is typical. if not fix that first.
check fuses if the fan "blower" is dead , is it?
blows cold in all lever positions? hot + recirc, + defrost ,high or low vents?
all vents cold? (warm)

Don't think so the pistons are different sizes so the head and the cylinder won't mate properly

Changed the thermostat still doesn't heat

parked or moving both? ?
why not post symptoms,??? and ask for real help not wild guesses.????????? real as in diagnostic?
my guess is the HVAC system heater i dead? dead cold on all modes and the power works on HIGH?
ill guess, heater cold on fast fan.
here are the checks (I use a scan tool for ECT temp )

1: first i touch the top rad hose is it too hot to hold hand there.?
yes, that is 180F to 200F there. so is good, if not fix THAT First.
2: then step 2, heater core hoses, 2 hoses there hot same rules.
yes, no?

ill stop here,, but this is first.

first is engine heat, changing thermostat if engine hot, is a waste of time. and cash.
the engine heat can be seen 4 ways
1: dash gauge, at normal. (if don't know normal ,all this wasted)
2: IR pyro gun, check. best. a $15 tool. ends guessing .
3: scan tool ECT shows, 180F more, passes tests very good method here and is free if you have any scan tool.
4; hand flies off hose test. crude but effective, if not sure try on car that works, now you know where 180F is. "experience":
