I cannot figure out how to square or cube the cosh function or the others i.e. csc, sin, cos, etc. Is there a way to do this.......

1) Selecting the sin/cos/tan key results in sin( or cos( or tan( being displayed on your computer, 2) press [in succession] x,).

Your calculator should now be displaying cos(x). Recall that the typed cos^2(x) means that the result of cos(x) is squared. Simpler: typed cos^2(x) = (cos(x))^2.

Continuing from above: 3) press the left arrow [<-] until the cursor is on the left side of cos(x), 4) add another "(", 5) now press the right arrow until the cursor is on the far right side of what is now (cos(x), 6) add a ")" here (you should now have (cos(x)), 7) now press the ^ and 2 (you should now have (cos(x))^2), and

7) PRESS Enter and Whalaaaa

Say you want to square sin(3).. Press: sin 3 ) And then press the button on the left that has the X Squared on it.

The hyperbolic cosine is defined as (e^x+e^(-x))/2. This makes the cosh of -x as (e^(-x)+e^x)/2, which is the same thing except for the order of the two terms in the sum. Thus cosh(x) is equal to cosh(-x), and thus cosh is an even function.

Sorry I do not like to work with secant and cosecant.

sec(a)+tan(a)=(1+sin(a))/cos(a)

ln(sec(a)+tan(a))=** ln( (1+sin(a))/cos(a))=X**

2*cosh(X)= e^(X)+e^(-X)

**e^(X)=(1+sin(a))/cos(a)**

**e^(-X)= cos(a)/(1+sin(a))**

2cosh(X)=(1+sin(a))/cos(a) +cos(a)/(1+sin(a))= 2/cos(a)

**cosh(X)=1/cos(a)=sec(a)**

Now that you see how you can do it, I trust you will discover any mistake I might have made.

If you want to use the classPad function sequence**Action>Transformation>simplify(,** do it step by step as I have detailed above.

I have not yet seen a calculator that has a dedicated key for the cosecant , secant, nor cotangente functions, because they are directly connected with the sine, the cosine, and the tangente.

Cosecant (x) = 1/sin(x)

Secant (x) = 1/cos(x)

Cotangente(x) = 1/tan(x)

Do not confuse these functions with the inverse trigonometric functions, usually represented as

arccosine = arccos; on calculators cos^-1,

arcsine = arcsin ; on calculators sin^-1

arctangent= arctan ; on aclculators tan^-1
