How do you put sandpaper on a Craftsman 1/4 sheet sander?

If you have the sander that is in the picture (and I surely do hope that you do), I can help you.
Your sanding felt pad is square, and two of the sides, opposite each other, have a wire spring clip on them.
You lift the clip and rotate it and then you will have a opening under each of the spring clips to insert an edge of the sandpaper.
Cut the sandpaper to 3/4ths of an inch longer than the pad on both sides that are to slide inside the spring clips.
Insert one edge of the paper under one side, then snap the clip down in place.
Then, curl the edge of the other side of the paper with your fingers to fit under the other edge, and then snap that one down on the paper. Good to go.
God bless your efforts.

E77 edge sander grease fitting. What type grease do I use?

Any good quality general purpose grease should suffice. If you want a more detailed answer, you need to provide a little more information than just E77 edge sander. Brand, full model number (not the name), etc.

My porter cable belt sander 352vs just went dead. I was using it for about 15 minutes and then it died with no warning signs. I subsequently plugged it into a variety of outlets thinking that was the...

Unplug the the sander open the plate to the power cord check for broken wires. Use a Digital Multimeter on the cord to find hidden broken wires in the insulation, if the power cord checks out fine it is in the motor or the switch check the switch and wires with the Digital Multimeter if the switch is fine it is in the motor replace whatever you find that is bad.

Festool RO 125 leaves scuff marks when sanding

depends how important it is to vacuum the dust, most generic brand sandpaper discs will have different hole placements for the sander and the vacuum cant suck the dust up. if you are getting swirl marks from the edge of the sander, is the disc too small? a generic brand that is slightly larger may work but try and keep the sander flat or the excess disk can cause a little trouble with the finish.

No powerto sander. Cord is good, switch is good and brushes are long

It sounds to me that you have used the sander a lot and the vibration has broken a wire or it's about to break on the field windings. The brushes you need to look at to see if worn. But I kind of think wire problem. I had this happen on mine and opened it up to find this is what happened. The sander would be turned on and would not operate until I turn upside down and it would work. This is great if you are sanding upside down but this is just a sign that you are on borrowed time as this will eventually not turn on at all. I was able to fix mine with new wire crimp connection and solder with heat shrink material. If not you can order new field winding if this is what is wrong. Cleaning up the sander won't hurt either. You might want to see what a new sander will cost vs. part. Good Luck!

I have a power devil belt sander, but every time i turn it on for use the belt works its way off... i bought this sander second hand at a boot sale so im thinking is there supposed to be an outside guide...

no there is not anything missing, you need to adjust the belt by turning the black plastic adjuster knob which guides the belt to the left. I have found that whilst using the sander you sometime need to adjust it further. If you adjust it too much the belt will hit and grind the plastic casing of the sander.

Also make sure you are using the correct size belt as it should be size 75X533 which you can buy from Toolstation for £2.78 a pack of 5.

Hook sand paper will not stay on the disk of the 5" palm sander

The backing pad does not last very long on these hook and loop designed sanders, and the pad should be replaced when the edges of the pad look worn. If the edges are okay try taking a toothbrush and some degreaser (IPA or brake cleaner). Look for the replacment backing pads online or at a hardware store.

Bosch 3283 dvs sander has unbalanced spin

This means the sander has been droped and the pad support and/or the bearing orbit has been bent, maybe even the motor shaft. Never leave any power tool sitting on a bench, always set it on the floor, it will end up there at some time anyways. You can try replacing a part at a time and spend a lot of money and time, but is it worth it?
