SOURCE: singer sewing machine jammed after sewing over

You do need to be sure of the shuttle and needle timing and condition of hook as jackbowker suggested.
Did you change the needle in case it is bent? I have fixed several "broken" sewing machines by only changing the needle. Too easy for most people to think about.

SOURCE: i have a singer Sew Mate 5400 and the top thread gets so tight

Ok, you definitely have something going on. So you'll need to try the following.

1. Re thread the machine making sure the presser foot is in the up position.

2. Make sure your needle and thread are the right size for each other.

3. Check that your thread spool or spool keeper disk doesn't have a burr that is catching the thread.

4. Make sure the thread isn't wrapped around the thread spindle.

Usually, slide back the footplate, release the catch on the bobbin holder and lift it out.

How to fix code E7 on a singer sew mate 5400

I would go to the Singer site and email customer service to find out what that code means. It can vary according to which machine it is. Once you have found that out, you'll know how to proceed.

How do I fix the looping under the material when I sew?

the looping on the bottom usually is a tension problem, the top & bottom tension are unequal usually fixed by adjusting the top tension.
some people that I've talked with have had success with changing to a different size needle ( depends what type of thread is being used).
when the machine is threaded the foot needs to be up ( this releases tension on the thread), when the foot is lowered it the tension is set on the thread. if the material being sewed is too thick it raises the foot too high & releases tension on the thread ( the material has to be really thick to do this).
if there a piece of thread or lint in or around the tensioner or bobbin area it could cause trouble.
other wise if you've tried everything you can think of, take it back th the store & have them try it & tell you what is wrong.

also this machine has bad reviews (i'll provide a link so you can read them), people having the same problems as you are. the newer singers just don't seem to be the same quality tha the older ones were.
all bad reviews

Singer error codes

I just downloaded and took a look at the user's manual at the singer site--I recommend you do the same, the manual is invaluable. On page 29, it says the the bobbin winder is in operation. Typically, you engage the bobbin winder by moving a shaft over--move it back into sewing position.
